Personally I don't like dried figs (although I love fig newtons). But my husband raves about them. When he first tried them he gobbled down four or five figs and said he liked them even more than the Sunsweet Orange Essence prunes I normally buy him (and he loved those). I guess I wasn't surprised. Made in Nature black mission figs appear to be a quality item (unsulfured, organic) so it made sense he'd like them. And I was happy he liked them since they're healthy, so, I bought more, for him, and I've been buying them ever since. As a related aside; not only does he like the way they taste, he also told me they make him "regular", gently and more effectively than prunes do.
Currently this exact brand, in a lot of six 8 oz bags on Amazon (Made In Nature Organic Black Mission Figs, Sun-Dried and Unsulfured, 8-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6)), is cheaper per ounce than this single 32 oz bag. That's the listing I buy from here at Amazon and I just ordered more today because the price is still good (cheaper per ounce than at my local grocery store, and cheaper than Sunmaid brand dried black mission figs). And with Amazon Prime you get free shipping. Prices can change, so you should always check out all listing and ads before purchasing.Read more ›
Yesterday, I was in my favorite warehouse store strolling the dried fruit isle and found a large bag (32 ounces) of Made in Nature Organic Black Mission Figs. Well, I've always liked dried figs but I've never had this particular kind before. Seemed worth a try. I was surprised that they were much smaller than the dried figs I was used to. They were also a bit more flavored, in a positive way. Well, they're delicious! Fresh and chewy with a nice sweet taste. Yum! These won't last long.
Place amount of figs you wish to eat in one serving into a strainer.
Place strainer over sauce pot. Cover.
Let sit a few minutes. Voila!
Ready to eat. Much 'sweeter' appearance. Nice and soft.

Horrible! They were hard and I almost chipped my tooth. There's a weird crunch that tastes and feels like sand (don't buy)... :(Published 28 days ago by Joseph Liquori
