About the Author
New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.
When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

Zoe who is an only child has also lost her mother about 6 months earlier. She decided to move to the coast and start fresh, something she and her mom had dreamt of and talked about before she passed. Zoe is also somewhat of a perfectionist, but is very sweet and easy to love.
As she is asked to take on the interior design of the Shaughnessy development she is warned about Aidan, what a pain he is to work for and how hard he is to please.
Once they meet they are both attracted to each, but try to fight it as they work together. Also they both have issues to work through especially Aidan if they ever have a hope of being together and staying together.
This was a great book with great characters and story line. I am really looking forward to the rest of this series!!!!
The oldest brother Aidan is struggling with the loss of his mother. Taking on so much responsibility to take care of his family, his father included..He's very particular about how things get done, and doesn't like change. The way he builds his homes is a clearly an example. Aidan is floored when the designer Zoe Dalton has clearly overstepped some boundaries. Yet he thinks he may have found someone who will challenge him. She's spot on some of the things that need to be done, and fixed in the homes he's doing.
Zoe Dalton is darn proud of the designer she has become. She has dealt with some really tough clients. That's until she meets Aidan Shaugnessy. He takes the cake. She's not sure she can handle him. Doing the best she can, because it will take a lot to win him over. There's something that attracts her to him. He's difficult at times, and infuriates her at she does the job.
When Zoe and Aidan are forced to take cover in a house he has been working on can they fight an attraction brewing between them? More to come and it is so touching...have tissues handy. This book will have you laugh, cry, and will warm your heart. Truly heart warming out.
What an amazing book. Must read. Highly recommend.
Samantha Chase made me feel deeply for these two characters, probably because I could so relate to both of them so well. I am so looking forward to the rest of this series!
Zoe Dalton is a talented interior designer who has just moved from Arizona to the North Carolina coast. Shortly after arriving she is given one of the most dreaded assignments among her colleagues, to work for Aidan Shaughnessy on his numerous model homes. The Shaughnessy family is very well-known and respected in their small town and Zoe starts spending more and more time with Aidan and his family, even though that's the opposite of what Aidan wants, strangely enough. The problem is, Aidan is technically Zoe's boss so that adds a bit of a complicated twist.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the Shaughnessy Brothers series! The only thing that got under my skin a bit was Aidan's moodiness and the way he doesn't want Zoe around his family because of his personal reasons. I like the way he redeems himself in the end and I hope to hear more about Aidan and Zoe in future books. As I was reading this book, I had the same feelings of contentment and enjoyment as I do when I read a novel by Jill Shalvis. While the two authors don't have the same writing style, I feel they are somewhat similar so if you have read and enjoyed any of Jill Shalvis' books, I would definitely read some of Samantha Chase's books. If you enjoy contemporary romance, Samantha Chase writes some great books and I recommend this book since it is a good start to the series!
