About the Author

Sandra “Sam” Pirtle, seemed to be a normal child growing up in North Georgia. Her parents, who met while her mother was a riveter and her father was a rivet inspector at an aircraft plant producing planes for WWII, were relatively normal parents. When she was ten years old her parents took her back to their native Texas. It was then that she began to plot an escape from living a normal life. Her parents revealed that they were not quite like the other parents in Canton Texas, when they did not raise an eyebrow when their pretty youngest child announced that she was going to go to Texas Maritime Academy to become one of the first American women to become an unlimited tonnage Merchant Marine officer. During breaks from her seagoing career, Sam served in the Coast Guard, attended the Grady College of Journalism, obtained her Master’s degree in Sociology of Occupations and Organizations, became a Certified Marine Surveyor working in the petroleum industry, and toured the world. Now, over forty years after escaping small town life, Sam uses her real-life adventures and travels as bases to spin her fictional tales, which she writes as she continues to serve aboard cargo ships supplying the islands of Hawaii. She is the author of the novels: The Accidental Texan, The Ten Year Divorce, and The Sixth Daughter. --This text refers to the paperback edition.
