My husband loves massaman curry. So I thought I would be on the search for a vegetarian curry paste. This product is totally vegeterian, no fish, shrimp, or other animal by-product. Just add coconut milk and whatever veggies you want and you're done...great for quick curries. Totally recommend.

As a Thai-American growing up with a Thai mother, I ate Masaman frequently, and usually saw my Mom with this brand. It is absolutely delicious.

When I have friends who tell me they don't like curry, I make them try this. It is sweet (being made with coconut milk and cinnamon) and savory (having potatoes and peanuts), only mildly spicy. Since it is made with coconut milk, it is also naturally dairy free!

It is also highly adaptable - the recipe calls for potatoes, onions and chicken, but you could also use beef, shrimp, pork, or throw in some carrots, whatever you want!

All of the maesri curry pastes are top notch, and very spicy. If you're not used to it use half or even 1/4 of what it calls for, you'll still get plenty of flavor with less burn. Increase your spicy tolerance though, you'll unlock flavor dimensions you didn't think existed once you can taste the subtle flavors beneath the chili's (some are citrus tasting or sour etc, but when you don't have a high spicy tolerance yet all you taste is burn... work on it, get it up you wont be sorry). I like this flavor with beef and potato. l sometimes i add a teaspoon of various curry when I dont use the whole can to something else. You'd be surprised what it does to something like scrambled eggs or a stir fry even without coconut milk. Curry pastes are all just fresh herbs ground up in oil for the most part so if you look at the base ingredients in them you can figure out what non thai dishes they might compliment, and since these cans can get pretty spicy if you use the whole thing in one dish, you can always save a little extra to toss into other stuff later in the week.

My girlfriend (many years ago) was from Thailand, and made something different every night. This one is easy, and I get teary-eyed enjoying this (exactly as recipe on the can describes)...I mean, what could be easier than chicken, potatoes, and onions? I have ALL the cans of this brand of curry. Each one different, Each one DELICIOUS!

This stuff makes good curry. EVEN OUR KIDS LOVE IT and that's saying a lot. Its strong and using the full can is too spicy for our kids, so we always use 1/3 can for every 2 cans of coconut milk plus 2 cups of chicken broth we use. The can has a good recipe to give you a good base to start with, but its a little too plain for me and we like lots of veggies to make it more filling. We usually do 1/3 can of the curry paste, 1/2 to 1 lb. chicken, 1 med yellow onion, 2-3 medium sweet potato, and 2-3 average zucchini with some roasted peanuts for garnish. I also do a splash of fish sauce, a squirt of sriracha, and a couple tablespoons of sugar. Salt and pepper to taste. It takes me about 30-40 minutes start to finish so its a fairly quick meal with few dishes. Some of us eat it with jasmine rice, while others eat it as is like a soup. Makes a great meal for cold winter days.

easy curry and not to spicy.
My basic recipe: Onions, carrots, bell peper, and (chicken, shrimp or salmon)
Pre cook carrots, onions, and bell peppers till half way done. add to pot your going to cook the curry in.
In frying pan pre cooked veggies cook chicken or shrimp till out side dont but still raw in middle, add to pot with veggies.
Add coconut milk, and curry past and simmer till done.
for salmon cook salmon till 3/4 done in the frying pan. while doing that start the curry above just with out any meat. when salmon is done float it at the top of the curry. do not stir the curry. Cook till salmon is done. Take salmon off, stir veggies and dish out.

This is best over rice.

Yum! This tastes just like the masaman curry I always order at our favorite fancy Thai restaurant. It only costs a fraction of the price to make it at home, and it's so easy! I love it with zucchini and cauliflower, as well as the standard potatoes and onions. Try roasting some cashews to sprinkle on top... Delicious!

I have been purchasing this brand for many years. I was very happy to see it on Amazon.

These cans are a nice size for us as they make a family sized batch of curry using the whole can. Larger tubs get stale after being opened.

The flavors are good. I especially like the warmer spices in the masaman curries. I have not found a prepared paste that I like better than this brand.
