I loved the characters in this story. The H, Axel, is an Alpha, dominating man, yet he does have issues and a softer side he hides well. He is conflicted between his goal of revenge against the family of the father who abandoned him and using an innocent to achiev his goals. An innocent he's developing feelings for but continues to deny it. The h, Theresa, is the innocent. She's sweet and caring to a fault, yet she's no pushover. I love that even though she has submissive tendencies and he's a dominate, he gives her the courage to fight for what she wants; he doesn't want to break her spirit.
This isn't just a romance of two people finding their way to each other. It's also a story of one man finding his way back to the family he lost.
While this is a stand alone story, it does include characters from Steele's Arranged Marriage series (Michael and Karma's story in books 1-3 and Christian and Aurora's in book 4). I have to admit, I did not read that series. Why? Because I read the Big Bad Billionaires series (which I loved) and Michael is the Mafia Don and son of the former Don who was the villain in that series. So ... Bad guy! But now that I've read this story in which Michael and the other brothers appear, definitely want to read Michael's story now! Should have known, haven't read an L. Steele story that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed yet. 4.5 stars!

5 stars: It was Epic! I loved, loved, loved everything about it ...awesome story, phenomenal characters, intense feels! It made me cry real tears, or laugh out loud, or get really angry, etc. ... or did all of it ... I FELT every emotion and lived the book! The characters became my friends and family and I didn't want to leave them when it ended. I will read this book over and over again! I can't recommend it enough!
4 stars: Loved it! Great story/plot that was well written with multi-layered characters. Will definitely read more of this author and likely reread this one too.
3 stars: I liked it. Decent story and characters. But ... it had some minor proofing or editing issues, not enough to detract. Will likely try this author again.
2 stars: I finished it, but..... The story may have had potential, but went haywire somewhere or there were too many errors (typos or miss-used word) and/or inconsistencies (story line or characterwise) that detracted from the story. Needs serious proofing and editing. Or all of the above.
1 star: Didn't like the story or the characters or both. It was too all over the place. If the book is part of a continuing story in a series and 2nd or 3rd in that series, it's likely DN, meaning I got through the first, maybe even the second one, hoping things would improve in the next....it didn't.

(she has been torturing us of late with cliffy’s)This book fulfills a mostly completed story of Axel & Theresa’s Story,*However, it still has not cleared up or answered questions from previous 4 books regarding Karma & Michael or Karma & her sister Summer (from previous billionaires series) its a bit frustrating not to have those stories cleaned up and done. especially with the continuity issues I mention down below at end of my review.With that said, The characters and plots, settings and the stories are all so vividly well written.So, Axel is a missing triplet from the Sovrano Brothers. He is working with someone powerful. Who?Axel was mentioned in the previous book MAFIA CHRISTMAS shows up to allegedly kill Christian his twin. (Axel was not raised w/ his twin brothers, he was raised in London with his rejected mother. He is angry and wants his fair share of the SAVRANO pie, and revenge for his mother. But he gets shot while protecting Theresa. In the previous book he ends up in a coma and his true identity exposed to the SAVRANO family.In this book MAFIA CROWN Axel is recovering and demanding his fair share and secretly plotting revenge while dealing w/ memory loss and Theresa’s misplaced affection for Axel’s twin Zander whom she was in love with. Theresa must come to terms with her grief of Zander’s death, while watching over Axel the man who has Zander’s face! Axel is not Zander! While Zander was sweet kind and joyful light. Axel is dark vengeful and uses Theresa’s love for Zander and her confusion as to why Axel saved her life. “He can’t be all bad can he?’ But what is his true motivation? While Axel is falling for Theresa, he is using her while plotting against his brothers. Will he follow through? Will he betray his own brothers? Will he hurt Theresa in the process. Even if he wins .. he still loses. But you definitely need to read MAFIA HEIR (technically book 1) At least, BECAUSE it is the prologue to MAFIA KING, MAFIA QUEEN, MAFIA CHRISTMAS and this book MAFIA CROWN In that order.this review is for MAFIA CROWN it takes place after books 1-4 MICHAEL & KARMA’S STORY it continues their story.**HERE ARE MY ISSUES**There is still NOT A PROPER continuation of Karma’s story BECAUSE Karma still has not told Michael about her heart condition! I honestly think LAXMI FOR THE FIFTH BOOK still has not handled karma’s heart condition properly since she has literally been in fight and survival mode literally daily for more than a year! Honestly it must not really be a big deal since she has not had any problems even though she did not complete her medication or therapy protocols since being kidnapped .. and how literally is she not dead? Throughout everything she has gone through up to this point. Why give a character a medical problem and tell us how serious it is, if it’s not actually a problem at all. Seriously. Some major continuity issues here. So anyhow after we discovered the true culprit and the true enemy… new alliances are formed and karma & Michael still have issues. But well…there is still a HEA So far, but story is STILL NOT OVER CAUSE KARMA HAS YET TO RETURN HOME OR TELL HER SISTER SUMMER EVERY THING SHE HAS BEEN THOUGH AND WHILE I’M ON IT, WHAT LOVING SISTER DOES NOT CHECK ON KARMA ..OR REMIND HER THAT SHE NEEDS HER MEDS? FIND OUT WHETHER OR NOT SHE COMPLETED HE PROTOCOL??? WHAT KIND OF SISTER IS SUMMER ?? more continuity issues cause after 5 books it should be exposed by now! Karma was kidnapped and did completed her protocol and her life has been is serious danger nonstop for nearly a year! Serious continuity issues Michael should have figured it out and he should have seen Karma’s phone, SINCE HE TOOK IT FROM HER. Summer would have been sending daily reminders about taking her medication and she has been without it for so many months she should be dead. Cause she was apparently practically on deaths door just a year ago, the meds and protocol was supposed to save her life. But I think LAXMI HAS FORGOTTEN SHE STARTED THIS, AND HASN’T FINISHED IT. apparently Karma & Summer also do not have the kind of relationship Laxmi convinced us they had in previous series and previous books. So, there is that.Guess I must wait for MAFIA VOWS coming AUGUST 2022, (SEBASTIAN & ELSA’S STORY) if the world survives that is?if this is how LAXMI is gonna treat all books & stories from now on, then I ’m gonna Probably need to increase my therapy, thanks Laxmi!LAXMI I’ve been invested in KARMA’S STORY FOR More than, 3 YEARS now and I still don’t have answers! When I was first introduced to karma and Michael 11 books ago at the end of SUMMER & SINCLAIR’s story! The first book of the BILLIONAIRES SERIES 9 BOOKS THEN 5 BOOKs OF DARK MAFIA BILLIONAIRES (including this one) and I still don’t have the answers I need! WHY ARE YOU PUNISHING /TORTURING US?So not right.. and do you even read these reviews?I’m an arc reader. For LaxmiI am also an Alpha reader & Arc reader for other authors I think Laxmi needs a new alpha reader to point out her continuity issues. Never mind I had to skip over a lot. Of the story it really does drag on some. I can literally skip every other paragraph during non exciting parts and not miss a single thing . Some of the conversations Just drag too much. And you lose momentum.
