If you've got 2 and 3, this is a nice add to complete (or start) the story arc.

You see the connection to Mafia 2, which is always nice in a game series.

Gameplay is not bad. Controls are easy to figure out. And the game has a good story (which is important for games like this)

Beat the race 1st try

I dont know what the heck people are talking about the race mission for. I literally beat the race in my 1st try with at least a 10 second gap from 2nd. I'm by no means an expert racer but Im better than 95% of all players who drive in videogames. I beat all my friends in GTA 5, forza horizon 4, assetto corsa.. I literally have thousands of hours in racing games from when I was a kid till now in my mid/late 20's.

TIPS to win the race: USE YOUR MINIMAP!!! this goes for any game that gives you a minimap for racing, its truly OP if you can glance at the minimap and then know what your next turn is so you can prepare to slow down or pre turn.

Use a controller and hit A to use the E brake/Shove feature when making some of the sharper turns.

Don't always use the brake, sometimes letting off the gas is all you need with a little bit of a tap from the A button.

Know the next turns, if you break and use your handbrake/A button you will be golden. Ram if you absolutely need to but I don't need to. Cut the corners sometimes too the lines don't matter in this. I was scared this was actually going to be extremely hard but for me it was not even challenging by any means. TO be fair I have thousands of hours in racing games and have been playing my whole life so I know its not a fair comparison. I only got this good at racing because I obsessed over it when I was 6-14 years old raging until I learned how to be a great driver.

Use your brakes, the handbrake and USE YOUR MINIMAP and you will be golden.

A Game you can't Refuse, Except...

The original Mafia is a cult classic that had the unfortunate luck of being released a few months before GTA: Vice City. Mafia ended up being completely thrown to the wayside because of this, but Hangar 13 has done an absolutely amazing job of giving this title the attention it deserves. As a fan of mob films such as The Godfather and The Irishman--along with the fact that I'm Italian myself--I absolutely the TLC that this title was given. Rather than a mere HD update, the original Mafia has been rebuilt from the ground up. The game is absolutely GORGEOUS, with the aesthetic of the 1930s captured perfectly. The personality of the characters is spot on, with Tommy, the game's central character, perfectly capturing the rags-to-made-man persona that Mafia inspired pieces of entertainment do such an awesome job at portraying. In fact, as much as I love the GTA series, I feel that Mafia is a more accurate example of what it would be like to embrace the struggle of becoming a Made Man.

With that being, there is ONE thing that is keeping me from giving this game a perfect score: THE ATROUICIOUS RACING MISSION. Why, why, why did the devs at Hangar 13 fail to adjust the difficulty for this mission?! Don't get me wrong, I love a challenge, but holy crap! There's a fine line between challenging and downright painful, and this mission has absolutely no problem tearing that line to pieces. From what I've read, this mission is just as challenging in the original version of the game as well. In fact, I've seen some people say that the racing mission is harder in the remake. I haven't played the original, so I'm not in a position to verify that claim. What I can say, though, is that I had an easier time defeating Pontiff, The Soul of Cinder, and Slave Knight Gael in Dark Souls 3 than I had taking first place in this game's race! The only good thing about it is that it happens early, so at least you have the ability to get through it near the beginning of the game. In addition, there are some awesome tutorials on Youtube that can help you beat it (and I have no problem admitting that I had to use those tutorials), so make sure to look them up if you have trouble. Outside of this absolutely painful experience, the remake of Mafia is a must play, and the perfect love letter to the films that inspire it.
