Hi! I’m Miranda Blake and this is my story. Well, sort of. It’s more like a twisted fairytale, if you believe in them. Except there’s no beautiful, young princess with perky breasts, perfectly coiffed hair and a sassy attitude. I’m closing in on fifty, thirty pounds overweight according to Weight Watchers, and, after nursing two kids and that bitch, gravity, doing her job, I’m lucky the ladies don’t hit my knees. The gorgeous brown mane of hair is slightly frizzy from my ridiculous attempts to recapture my youth by dyeing the hell out of it. As for sassy attitude, well, it wasn’t so long ago that I was a doormat. And the charming prince who sweeps me off my feet into the life of my dreams? I have a dog called Prince, German Shepherd, who knocks me on my ass if I’m in the way when the doorbell rings. Does that count?
I also have five soul sisters who love and respect my abilities, although, to be truthful, they don't exactly understand my life. One is a lovely woman who has found her worth. Another is almost as free-spirited as I, merely pacing her cage at the moment. Yet another is a paragon of beauty and grace, with immense restraint and an imminent implosion. My older soul sister has a tragic past, which shapes her personality. Finally, my goth-loving, gun-toting, smart-mouthed sister, who has secrets too painful to reveal, and a brother, Mitchell, who masks his inability to save her by rescuing those the world has forgotten.
My five soul sisters keep me grounded, and that's why I'm afraid to share my darkest secret with them. I may not have a choice, though. My past is coming back to haunt me. If I tell them, my friend Kimy will probably insist on calling her brother, Mitchell, who tries to save the world. You see, I have a small problem. I think my store is haunted, and someone is after me.
And Mitchell? Well, he scares me—at least I get nervous and shivery whenever he is near. His aura is so murky, I can't begin to read it.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure my heart can stand his presence for that long. Of course, Chloe doesn't think it's anxiety; she believes it's attraction. Me? Attracted to Mitchell? We are complete opposites.
Then again, they say opposites attract…
Angel Devereaux is smart, sexy and definitely on Sam’s blacklist. After siding with Sam’s enemy fifteen years ago, Angel can’t help but wonder what if….what if Sam had never left? What if he could forgive her now? She had her reasons, but he won’t listen. So enough with words, sometimes action is exactly what’s called for.
A few years ago, the tiny village of Grafton, Illinois, nestled along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, was almost completely destroyed by flood. Mac Coalson sets about the arduous task of saving what could be saved.
When vandals strike the new construction, it was up to Mac and his brothers to catch the culprit before anyone is hurt. While laying a trap, Mac thought he had captured the criminal, but instead, he finds sassy spitfire, Dixie Harris, has stolen his heart.
Sam Coalson, ex-Navy SEAL, was run off fifteen years ago by the father of his high school sweetheart. He can’t forgive Angel Devereaux for her part in his humiliation, but he can and will find out who is behind the destruction of Mac’s construction business.
Charming Chance Coalson helps his brother run their construction business with a ready smile and a strong back. Considered the “Casanova of the County”, his love for women is legendary. Now this “bad boy” has become a one-woman man, and he must convince a shy firefighter he’s worthy of her love.
Georgia Haines is the only female volunteer firefighter in Grafton. She’s had a crush on Chance Coalson since he offered her his handkerchief at her momma’s funeral. But she’s smart enough to know that it takes a special woman to tame a charmer like Chance, and there’s nothing particularly special about her.
When fire breaks out at the Coalson’s construction business and Chance is trapped inside, Georgia braves the flames to save him, only to discover her “crush” has morphed into love. And she’s helpless to hide her desire.
Chance awakens to find an angel breathing life into his lungs with a kiss. The woman he wanted more than any other was the one who paid the “Casanova of the County” no mind.
So how does a man with a bad reputation convince a shy firefighter that he’s worth taking a chance on love?
By fighting fire with fire…..
“Father, I am conflicted within my heart. Our history with the monsters of blood, the day-walkers of old, tells us to beware, to call upon the ancients to protect us as we battle this evil.”
The figure nodded. “It is so, Child.”
“But with the utmost respect, Father, I have met one, and he is nothing as our ancestors have described. He is honest and true, trying to protect his tribe from the very evil we have battled against. I have seen it with my own eyes. How can I destroy what has saved my life?”
“He has tasted your blood?” The shadow recoiled at the thought.
“No! He fought an evil sorceress, his own mother, to save me and my friends. I would have died if they had not called upon the Piasa Bird to save me.”
“You speak of legends long dead, daughter. You were mistaken in your thoughts. The Piasa Bird is extinct.”
“No, Father, he lives. The last of his kind. Unique, just as I am unique.”
She pulled her shawl away from her shoulders, exposing the birthmark of the dragon. It glowed with an inner light of green. The figure stepped back.
“How long, Daughter?”
“Since the day the sorceress tried to take my soul and my powers. The dragon’s tears saved me, but now, my mark aches and glows.”
The figure was silent for several minutes. Delta worried she would never get an answer to her problem. Finally, he spoke, “There is only one reason for your mark to glow, Daughter. You are the key to banishing this evil from your world. You must turn these evils on to each other, so they will each destroy the other and leave your world forever.”
“Very well, Father. I will turn the day-walker against the dragon. My prayers and offerings will be centered on their demise.”
Delta Malone, shaman, shop owner and unbeknownst to her, destined soulmate of the rarest dragon, is about to embark on the greatest adventure of her life - she will attempt to pit the most powerful vampire against the fiercest dragon in an effort to control her own destiny and prevent the elimination of mankind.
Jackson Thibedeaoux, the last of the great Piasa Bird Dragons, has come home to die. Or at least, that what he thinks until he meets the beautiful, soulful, Delta, saves her from an evil sorceress, and realizes she is his fated mate. He knows she has secrets, but it's nothing he can't handle, right? After all, he's the fiercest dragon of all time with the most powerful friends in the shifter world.
But when he learns his soulmate's secret, it's up to him and his friends to convince her to throw caution to the wind and damn her destiny in favor of love, or else all of them are doomed.
Mackenzie Coalson was determined to rebuild his hometown after a devastating flood left it in ruins. He has no time for a relationship and all the romantic junk that goes with it. He has a vandal to catch and no sweet smelling bundle of femininity is going to sway him.
A woman protecting her family.....
Dixie Harris charged into the county sheriff's office with a sassy sway and a smart mouth, eager to give the sheriff, and anyone else, a piece of her mind. When she locks horns with the devil himself, in the form of Mac Coalson, she quickly learns he has a temper to rival hers, even if he's the living epitome of her sexual fantasies.
When the two unite to catch a potential murderer, it's in everyone's best interest to keep it, "business only". But that's hard to do when their combined attraction is volatile enough to burn down the town.
When Lucky’s accused of murdering his ex-wife, the Coalson family enlists the help of a private investigator to gather the clues necessary to prove his innocence. Little did they know that Renee Morgan is the same woman that sent Lucky scrambling up a sodden river bank at the height of a storm.
The two square off immediately, but Renee’s admiration of the Coalson family, despite her dislike of Lucky, is the deciding factor in her acceptance of the job. And although Lucky bristles every time she speaks, he grudgingly respects her intelligence and savvy skills as a private investigator.
As the hunt for the killer escalates, the two find they are not the only ones looking for the mysterious assassin. And the other people are more than willing to take out anyone that gets in their way, including those that Lucky and Renee hold dear to their hearts.
In a moment of passion that rocks them to the core, they realize their love may be forged in fire, but both have been badly burned by past lovers, and too stubborn to admit the truth. Can they find a way around their fears, or will Lucky’s ex-wife continue to plague him from the grave?
Fate had other plans, and when his grandfather passed on, and Gideon didn’t attend the funeral, Daisy knew he was gone forever. She married, had a child, and tried not to think of Gideon or what had become of him. It was a childish infatuation.
Fifteen years have come and gone, and Daisy stayed on the summer island after her own grandfather died to raise her little girl. As the local vet, she sees to the needs of the tiny town and keeps to herself after her husband’s suicide. But when rumors fly that a strange man is squatting on the Colonel’s land, she makes it her duty to investigate. She finds Gideon, a battle-scarred, ruthless man now, who wants nothing to do with the town or her. Can she help him overcome his experiences, or will his wounded soul drag her into his dismal world?
It’s even harder to keep a secret that could expose not only your family but an entire species. That’s what Frankie Cavanaugh must do. As the daughter of the leader of the Wisdom Counsel, it’s up to her to step into her father’s shoes until another leader is chosen.
It’s also up to her to continue her lineage within the species.
She wants to do neither. She considers the shifter gene a curse rather than a gift, robbing her of a normal life. Unfortunately, the Council doesn’t see it that way and is determined to wed her to their next leader – by force, if necessary.
Tanner Coalson is fresh out of college and ready to tackle whatever life has in store for him. The first item on his to-do list is marrying the woman he has loved for years. He knows Frankie will balk at the notion because she’s fifteen years older and was his childhood sitter. He’s no longer a young boy, but a man who is determined to win her heart, and he is prepared to do just that.
But convincing her they are destined to be together gets much harder when she is kidnapped by an old enemy. In order to survive, Frankie may have to reveal her secret, and Tanner may have to accept what seems impossible, or reject the love of his life.
