This is probably one of the most “real” books I’ve read in a long time. The nuances of life in central Florida were a joy to read and this story definitely took its time to build and for love to grow.
Maggie is understandably gun shy – have patience as all will be revealed about her past with Gerry Tucker. The chemistry between her and “Dax” is undeniable. There are so many facets to these characters and the story. “I blushed as I considered where I needed to go and how many ways the strong cowboy could get me there.”
There is much heartbreak in both their pasts and they both deal with that in completely opposite ways which almost tears them apart. You will laugh, giggle, swoon, cry and cheer for Maggie and Dax. I also loved the movie references – I’m a sucker for pop culture tidbits in novels.
“I’d spent the last twenty-six years convincing myself that I didn’t need a man in my life, but I sure as h*** wanted this one.”
I can’t really do this book justice for how great I felt it was. It was a joy to read and you really felt like you knew these characters and cried along with their pain. This book was just fantastic!
I voluntarily reviewed this book after requesting it from the publisher.
Violet is able to create amazing chemistry between Maggie and Dax. I almost forgot that they were supposed to be older people on their second round of love. While the love scenes were a little more graphic than in the previous series they were still done tastefully and will only make you blush a little.
I received an advanced copy of the book but this is honestly a well written, fun, easy summer book for adults. I highly recommend anything Violet Howe writes!
