This is supposed to be good for players age three and up. My six year old had no problem other than the hand-eye coordination of choosing and hammering only one little "ice blocks". Also, an adult or older child would need to put the last few blocks back in because they are harder to get snapped in place.
The game came with enough "ice blocks" to fill the board and one extra. I have no doubt the extra will be needed, although you could still probably play the game with missing pieces.
The game is similar to Jenga in that certain pieces cannot be removed without the whole thing falling down. It takes longer to put it together than to play the game, but that doesn't matter to my six year old. She just made a game of putting it back together. Using different patterns, some upside down, putting stickers on them, etc. The game has actually held her interest longer than I thought it would. Even though the game pieces are not the best quality (we don't even use the included spinner because it doesn't spin), we have enjoyed this game and I think it's worth the price.
*Tip- instead of taking the legs off each time to put the blocks back in place as the instructions state, just turn the whole thing over and put the blocks in upside down.
I did notice that a few of the plastic blocks were broken (looked almost melted) and when put together some of the blocks slide out of place before the game even starts. So that's a bummer, but hey, for the price you can't expect too much more than that.
The box it came in was slightly destroyed (the packaging was not damaged) but that did not affect the toy itself. The outer "ring" is pretty study.
1) Game takes way longer to set up then it does to play it.
2) instructions are not very clear. What happens if you accidentally knock down to many?
3) Putting the game back in the box is going to take a parent. You have to strategically place everything in the box for it all to fit.
Regardless of that, my toddler really does love this game, so to him, it’s 5 stars
