Bottom line- the blender motor and bottom part of the Nutribullet works OK, but the blade mechanism lasts less than 3 months. The poor design and construction of the blade is a serious weak point for the Nutribullet, and is a dealbreaker for me.
FYI There is a product review which appears first on the list, and it states that the Nutribullet is an “awesome unit, if you have sense to use it right”. I respectfully disagree! We make 2 smoothies a day, and follow all the guidelines for proper use. We never overload it, we chop all ingredients up and don’t overload the cup with solid ingredients, we add liquid at or below the fill line, and we don’t run it longer than 50 seconds or so (the manual says less than a minute). We always clean and dry the blade well, making sure we don’t inundate the bottom with too much liquid. Despite following all the guidelines recommended, the blades continue to degrade rapidly.
Another problem- buying a better quality replacement blade is virtually impossible. There are a variety of sellers offering blades, and they’re all equally low quality. Last time around, I bought from a seller who offered a “Nutribullet” blade via Amazon, with a direct hyperlink to Nutribullet above the product description- I got the same junky blade, which BTW was different from the blade pictured. It’s virtually impossible to determine the quality of what you’re buying, and there appears to be no way to buy an original Nutribullet manuf. part via Amazon. I tried the Nutribullet site, but they don’t seem to offer a simple blade replacement item.
If you’re looking for a personal blender, I recommend you stay away from this product. You’ll just end up throwing money away replacing the inferior blades.
It becomes more of an issue with multiple uses but I think that is only because it's harder to tighten it enough when it's wet from the previous drink so if you just make sure it is tight it won't leak. I have never had a blender work as well as this one! I had a GE one that worked pretty well, but it didn't last and I ended up purchasing a second one within a year and then that one didn't last more than 6 months so I decided to upgrade to this one. The price is right and it works really well so you don't get any chunks or anything. Love it so much!
I rely heavily on product reviews when making purchases which is why my written opinion is always honest and unbiased. I did screw up the first time I used it because I didn't listen. They are not kidding when it comes to that "Max Line". You cannot go over it or you'll have a big mess to clean up. I've learned to stay just under it and haven't had any problems ever since. Also, be kind to the motor. I blast it for 3-5 seconds three or four times and it's good to go no matter what I put in there. This is a powerful unit but if it breaks; it's because you abused it. It's easy to think that this guy is tough and can take it. To make it last, this is one time that you need to follow and abide by the instructions and the suggestions of the people who came before you. Buy with confidence and ENJOY!
