My presses are two four inch by four inch of quarter inch plywood. Drill four holes in the corners and attach with wing nuts and screws.
This one is nicer than mine: six inches by six inches, and made of good smelling cypress wood, sanded very smooth and with smooth edges.
I use Bazzill Basics 12 by 12-Inch 25-Sheet Cardstock, White to mount my collectibles -- as a hiker, I often find wonderful examples of vegetation that will become quite beautiful after a month in the press.
There is something very real about the depth and complexity of real plants, maybe not as beautiful as the digital images widely available on the internet, but analog has a special beauty all its own.
These are small enough to carry a couple in your backpack and start the squishing process at the moment of collection.
