And let me just tell the person who gave it 1 star that to say the sex scenes were not inspirational? You gotta be kidding or you really didn't read the same book I did. The sex in this book was plenty and it WAS inspirational. Some of the best sex I've ever seen written. So there!!! I've read books where sex is never even mention, no passion, no erection, NADA. And I do hate that. Then BAM there it is! This book mentioned it often and all in the right places.
I loved Drust, Eian, Dirc, Berta etc, etc. The whole bunch were great. Well, except for Mored. He was/is pretty evil. I'm off to read Drust's story now and hope I don't have to wait too long for Eian's.
I also really like it when authors think about writing stories that are different.
I would recommend it.
Faith McAlpin, working on Scottish artifacts and finds a beautiful ring. She takes it home to investigate "in the 21st century" she puts it on her finger and wakes in a field of heather in 1526. Lost and confused Faith roams until she spies a castle in the distance and comes across and older man named Dirc. Refusing to explain anything to her he takes her to a cottage to get her clothes of that time period. Faith knows this man has something to do with whats going on but he tells her all in good time.
Some reviewers have gone on rants about some things in this book I did not see. I admit there was one part I found hard to deal with. However it did fit in with the story. It only happened as it did because of the hero trying through the whole book before hand keeping his oath of honor and at that point he had to save lives. From that point after he felt worse on himself. She was fully accepting even when it happened. I just wish if people rant they would make sense doing it lol.
I really enjoyed this story. It did have a a good story behind the love story with an evil man, Mored against Bren. The twist of Faith's true origins totally took me by surprise. Well worth a read.
First let me say I was drawn in by the cover - that sexy tattoo and muscular body (SWOON). I was hoping that this would be a magical dragon shape-shifter type novel, however, it had nothing to do with shape-shifting into a dragon but it was still enjoyable as the author introduces some magical powers gifted to a clan from an old heritage of druids and wizards.
The book kept me intrigued and I just wanted more in the end. Actually at the end of the book I couldn't wait to buy the second book in the series. I loved the mixture of historical highlanders with fantasy (magic and wizards) and time-travel (magical ring brings a true mate from the future back into the past).
The characters are humorous and the highlanders are stubborn with a viciously all male tough guy demeanor - like me man, you woman, I protect ye. LOL Their connections were like old souls and I felt like I'd known them for ever.
The romance was sweet, emotional, and I thought the erotic scenes were a rating of 2 flames. They got the point across with out being too explicit.
This author is new to me and I'm glad I got this book. There were only a few minor errors with typo's but I think it was due to probable uploading it to Amazon because it was like the letter "e" was left off the word "the" or the letter "n" left off of "then".
Overall, great read and I'm excited to read the next book in the series.

The story had potential and was building up pretty decently....until he raped her. I just don't see how anyone can see it as anything but that. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Amazon Customer
