"This was a very good reinterpretation of the Loch Ness Monster story. I had never come across one before and this was a pleasant surprise. The mystery part of the story is very good. I thought I knew who the "mystery shifter" was and it was a pretty big surprise when it was revealed. We know the creature that inhabits the loch as Nessie, but the name didn't come about until 1975 when the beast was give a more scientific name: Nessiteras Rhombopteryx. It was the public who shortened the named to Nessie. The Loch Ness Monster was not always thought of as female and this gave me an idea. I enjoyed this story which beautifully combined a contemporary setting with elements of myth, the supernatural and an all time favorite of mine: the legend of the Lochness Monster. Kudos to Karen Michelle Nutt for giving it such a clever spin and writing an engaging tale.

I was a little concerned when I began reading that the heroine might be a bit maudlin given her situation, but she was far from it. I normally latch onto heroes more than their female counterparts, but I adored Michaela Grant. She made a fantastic heroine! Add a wonderful sexy hero (Alan MacLachlin), several secondary characters who warmed my heart, an evil adversary, and there is plenty of 'magic' in this book. The author spun an intriguing tale with a satisfying and clever ending. I'll definitely be looking up more of her work

I normally don't read much paranormal, but was hooked with the excerpt and first few chapters. Once I downloaded and started reading, I didn't stop.

Magic of the Loch is a well-written story that gives a new twist to the Loch Ness Monster. The author does a fine job of character development, creating a hero and heroine to root for. She also writes strong description, establishing a believable setting. She builds suspense well, with plenty of twists and turns leading to a satisfying conclusion.

I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by the author.

This is the first book I have read written by this author and it won’t be my last. Magic of the Loch was a lovely paranormal romance with a rich suspense element running through the story.

In this story Michaela Grant is on her last chance holiday. Having accepted that she has a virtually untreatable brain aneurysm she just wants to enjoy herself. She soon meets Alan MacLachlin, cursed into the shape of the Loch Ness Monster, who is only given a reprieve every fifty years so that he may find his soul mate and so break the curse. Little do they know that with Alan’s emergence a dark creature, bent on revenge, has initiated a sinister plan to ruin Alan and destroy everyone he knows and loves.

Despite the seriousness of Michaela’s condition the story is not a depressing one. The reality is always there and both characters acknowledge it, but at its heart the story is a romantic one and with that there is a chance for hope. I am one those people who hates a bittersweet ending or a ‘happy for now, but it’s all downhill from here’ type ending. So for those like me, let me assure you, it is a happy ending. But how it’s done is not necessarily what you begin to expect from the beginning of the book!

I’m the first to admit my detective skills are subpar, but this book kept me guessing ‘whodunit’ until the end. There are so many red herrings and redirections. Just when you think you know, something happens and you dismiss that person, only to come back to them to dismiss them again.

To really enjoy a book it is so important to ‘click’ with the author’s writing style and this certainly happened here. The author’s world building was good - life as we know it with just a little twist. The characters were well developed and the author managed to avoid ‘paper cut out’ syndrome that often applies to secondary and minor characters. All were fleshed out sufficiently for the story without being bogged down in too much detail.

I don’t know if this is a series, but I would love to read Hyatt’s story. He deserves a HEA too.

If you are looking for a light read that will also grab your attention; a book with a romance theme but also with a strong line of suspense running through it then I can highly recommend this book. For me, it was a page turner and I couldn’t put it down until the end.

MYTHICAL SCOTLAND **( 4.5/5 sTARS)**

I really enjoyed this tale set in modern day Scotland and involving one of the best known myths. The reader are told of events that happened back in the dark ages and in order to save their sister and her child two brother sacrificed themselves and become the Lochness Monster so that the secret of the Loch would be protected.

Alan and Hyatt have been doing this for centuries, every fifty years they are allowed to become human for ten years to look for their soul mate and if they find one they will no longer be forced to remain in the creatures form for the next fifty years., but will be able to transform at will, this ability is also available during the ten years they are allowed to remain human.

After centuries Hyatt has become a bit of cad and just wants to have fun and enjoy life as much as he can before being forced to return to the lock, Alan has hung onto more of his humanity but he no longer tries to find love. While he has never found is soul mare he has loved before and the pain when he has to return to the loch is something that he does not want to repeat.

Michaela Grant is dying; she’s always wanted to visit Scotland so she does so with the intention of living each moment to its fullest while she can. Despite the situation the tale is not depressing, but a story of hope, forgiveness and love. Alan tries to fight what he feels for Michaela before he realizes that she is dying but once he realizes that she is soul mate he is determined to find a way to save her while giving her time to realize that they belong together; being a modern woman she isn’t sure she believes in soul mates or love at first site. She is also recovering from a break-up that occurred once she found out she was dying.

This isn’t just a love story or a story about saving the person you love; there is another shape shifter who is determined to punish Alan and Hyatt for something that happened in the past. The brother have no idea there is another shifter in town or his grudge against them and he is not their only enemy due to this same even from their past. Once the shape-shifter realizes Michaela’s importance to Alan he is determined to make her his after he kill the brothers.

I really hope the author writes another book so that Hyatt can have his HEA even though he is happy to remain tied t the Loch and is happy that Alan is no longer forced to it would be nice to see them both happy and still able to protect their Loch
