The 38 writers who contributed to this anthology range from famous, successful authors to budding writers who have completed but not yet published their stories. Their voices are wildly different, so that I found kinship with some and unexpected wisdom from others. I underlined many points I want to remember and digest for my own journey of writing memoir. I now understand how my urge to write memoir—and my life experiences—fit into a larger social pattern called the Memoir Revolution.
If you want to write memoir, you need to read memoir. That’s one thing many of these writers said. This anthology gives you, the reader, many choices of writers to follow, depending on the kind of memoir you want to write. While reading a how-to-write-your memoir book will give you insights from one person, this book will give you many. I highly recommend it!
Each author in the book has something extra to tell about how they came to be writing their memoirs.
Thanks to the two editors Linda Joy Myers and Brooke Warner, you put together an excellent book.
