I cannot tell you enough how much I felt as I read this book. How absorbed I was by each word, each sentence, each moment that went by. I met new characters and grew closer to old ones and perhaps that is why the book affected me so much. Because I have grown fond of Kate. I know many individuals find book boyfriends to swoon over and root for and Curran very much so is a book boyfriend of mine but Kate, no one is better than Kate. No character exists that I ever loved as much as I love her, like that best friend or sister that you couldn’t imagine not having in your life and watching her feel pain and sorrow hurt because I know her and felt her pain too.
This is one of the strangest reviews I have ever written because I’m not going to tell you that the hook is great or that the ending is unexpected and exciting or that the romance is so sweet and pure. I’m not going to go on about Andrew’s style of writing or perfection in this, that, or the other because what mattered to me in regards to this book is that I felt something and it affected me. That is why I love this book, why I would recommend that YOU should read it and why Ilona Andrews has and always will be an all time favorite author of mine.
This was quite the emotional roller coaster for all the characters. Kate and Curran and 10 others of the Pack are off to England to make a deal for panacea. It’s the only cure or chance to prevent the young from going loup. Julie’s best friend Maddie is in need of it. Kate cant help but do this because its so horrible watching children go through this. Kate reveals things to Julie. She needed to know. She’s 14 and needs to get her ready. Curran and Kate’s relationship is hugely tested in this book. I understand why Curran did what he did. Why on the outside everyone including Kate thinking he’s betraying his mate and replacing her. I didn’t understand at the time but when its revealed I get it. I even know why he didn’t want to tell her. She’s a lousy liar and he was afraid their plan would blow up if she knew. He went about it badly but I get it. He hurt her badly and I think finally when she told him they were done and she didn’t think they had a future. He understood he took a huge risk. He’d do it again because he loves her. I dont wanna spoil it too much. Hugh we get to see more. This guy is a psycho and he’s really good and it becomes clear why Roland chose him. Kate and Hugh have more in common than I thought. He’s got a thing for her which gives her the willies. There were some laugh out loud moments. We feel some heartbreak and betrayal and horrific things happen. Those we love get hurt..badly physically and emotionally. I absolutely cant wait to read the next book! This book was awesome and a lot of things are coming together. I wanted to kick Curran’s ass at first myself. Ugh after knowing why he did what he did I got it. Didn’t like it but I got it. So, did Kate after awhile. She sooo didn’t like it and part of her is still pissed. Anyways, next book should be interesting.
We get some intel on the infamous Roland, we get to leave Atlanta for a fresh new destination, we meet new packs and boy do they bring some messed up pack politics and antics. We get to see Kate continue to hone and test the limits of her powers (my girl is the ultimate bad ass! Angelina Jolie ain't got nothing on Kate Daniels).
I loved Desandra! She's so much freaking fun, she has no filter, she vomits hilarity. "Cool your tits" still has me chuckling. I'm so glad I'll be seeing her in the future!
I know I should hate Hugh D'Ambray but um...I seriously don't. I'm soooo excited to see that his own book is in the works and as soon as it's available it will be on my pre-ordered list. He's such an evil naughty boy, and I loved every minute of him.
I first picked up the series in 2012 I devoured the first four books in about a month, then I took a really long break (thanks life). But I am back on board and I am moving right into book 7! Can't wait to see what's next in the crazy freaking world of Kate Daniels!
