What a delightful book! I am a teacher and just finished reading "The Magical World of Sebella: The Magic Castle" - I can't wait to share it with students and also with my niece! First-time children's author Thea Berg has created a whimsical and magical world where four children (with some special powers) must do their best to save the magic castle. What follows is an adventurous, funny story filled with ghosts, dragons, spells and more! The characters are well-defined, the story has a rapid pace that keeps the reader intrigued and wanting to find out what's going to happen next. At times witty and clever, and always entertaining, I highly recommend this book for elementary school children. I can't wait to read Thea Berg's next book! She is truly a writer who understands children and has created a world of fun in this book!

First time children's author Thea Berg has offered up a fun and fantastical ride for her literary debut. Ghosts and dragons and a whole lot more lead up to some Fun Questions at the book's end. Berg has a very nice way with characters that you will want to visit again and again. Here's looking forward to her second book!!

This book is the author's first short novel. The plot moves along quickly with well developed characters and lots of twists and turns. Vocabulary in the book is not too difficult allowing most beginning chapter readers to access it without too much difficulty. The author provides a comprehensive list of questions which may be used as a guide to developing a discussion and comprehension of the tale.Sebella is a nine year old witch who is part of a "unique" family living in Skullvilla. She is bored so she begs her mother to allow her to see who has just moved across the street. Turns out to be the witch Eloise, a former friend of her mother.

Sebella, the new girl, Kendall, Sebella's cousin, Prudence and Sebella's, brother, Drac are now playing in the living room, Suddenly, Prudence drops a gargoyle statue and its red laser eyes bore a hole in the fireplace wall. So the adventure begins! The children crawl into the tunnel which opens to a castle. Dimitrius, the Lord of the Castle, informs them they must get rid of the Shadows, slay the dragons and get rid of the Villanous Mentalist (who used to live in Sebella's house). Certainly a tall order. Though it seems an insurmountable task, the children are ready and willing to attempt it. Their journey forces them to explore many rooms of the castle. Turns out they receive some unexpected help along the way. Will they succeed in all three tasks and find a way to escape and find their way home? If they are successful, will their lives be changed forever?

A delightful and exciting read for tweens and teens and or adults. Looking forward to more from this new and talented author.

I recently read and enjoyed The Magical World of Sebella. It was fast-moving and will certainly hold a child's interest. I loved the surprise ending and the fun questions at the back. As a retired teacher, I must mention how pleased I was at the author's use of rich vocabulary words. Books should ideally be at the reader's reading level, with some challenging words thrown in. The following words in Ms. Berg's book are words 7 year olds probably don't hear too often: contraption, perspiration, jalopy, queasiness, buffoon, gangling, mischievous. I love words and would love discussing them with a young reader to see if they knew or could guess the meaning. An interesting book all around.

Story moves along quickly into the magical world while keeping a sense of reality reflecting human characters and events in a magical and fascinating nature while magical characters and events reflect human characteristics. An excellent story for children and perhaps even for adults that would like to reconnect with the magical world that typically we experience as children and that with time seems to dissipate. This is an excellent opportunity to remind ourselves that life can be fun and while we at times must overcome obstacles which seem insurmountable in the end we realize that we are more powerful than we thought we were and with a bit of courage and imagination not only do we get to save the day but we also and more importantly have fun in the process, accepting everybody's qualities and altitudes and working together to achieve a common goal. Highly recommend this book.

I really liked the book, to be perfectly honest. In my mother's review of the book, she said that, even though it was a children's book, it didn't use patronizing language or "dumb down" things for the child reader, and she is absolutely right. I hate it when author's write children's books and use silly language because they believe a child incapable of understanding normal speech. It's insulting. This book doesn't do that.

When I get a new kid's book -- or in this case, when my mother gets it -- I always read it first before I give it to my son to read, just to make sure there is no objectionable content (because these days, you really can't be sure), and this book is a book that I am going to be very happy to let my son read. I'd like to go on more adventures with Sebella and Co. :-D
