The Maglite would further benefit from a constant current circuit, which would maintain lamp brightness over the life of the battery. Fenix and other (more expensive) flashlights have that, but Maglite doesn't.
The Maglite is good for outdoor use, but if you want a mini flashlight primarily for looking inside computers or other equipment, the standard LED mini maglite is cheaper and more appropriate for that purpose.
Still, for $30, one gets a very bright flashlight, which is a big step forward from the older products.
Maglite touts the "full flap" holster for this flashlight. But that's not what is in the package with the new Pro+. One gets the same black pocket that came with the old model. Amazon sells two models of the full-flap holster, and th AM2A056 does NOT fit the Pro+.
I got tired of buying Chinese LED flashlights that were bright, but would give up the ghost in a matter of a couple of months.
These Maglites have a twist type on/off that is far more reliable than any button switch type would be. I have used 2 of them for the last 7 months and not a failure yet. And if it ever fails I will just send it back under the lifetime warranty. Try getting a lifetime warranty on a Chinese led.
Only thing I don't care for is the plastic lens, but it seems there are replacement boroglass lens available to purchase aftermarket.
I am a long time Maglite fan and have owned several models.
As a contractor I use flashlights every day, and Maglite's have proven to be the best.
I used to use the 2D and 4D models as my regular flashlights, but after using this
PRO+ LED for several months I will never go back. This light is super bright, brighter
and more powerful than the big 4D model and it's so compact you can wear it on your belt.
Expensive, but worth it!
LED emitters (light bulbs) have advanced rapidly in the past few years, and Maglite simply did not keep up. Happily, this particular Maglite has a thoroughly modern emitter. It is bright too!
The light seems reliable to me. Another reviewer has noted that his light will heat up like a bomb and turn itself off. I have not experienced this problem myself. Perhaps the reviewer was wearing insulating gloves at the time? I believe that my grubby little hand (and its bloodstream) serves to cool my light adequately.
My big complaint involves the "focusing" feature of this light. This is the feature that allows you to choose between a small spot of light, and a wide flood of light, and everything in between. It doesn't really work well, and in Maglite's history it never has either. What you get is a collection of concentric, light and dark rings. By twisting the head of the light, you can alter the pattern of the rings. That's it.
This light as shipped will roll off a table if you let it. I bought an accessory kit meant for the old mini-Maglites and I find that the accessories fit this Maglite nicely. The accessories include a pocket clip and a rubber hood that fits the head of the light. Either of these accessories will prevent the light from rolling. Recommended.
I am pleased with this light. It is fairly priced and dependable.

I like Maglites in general and have several versions of the AA size LED light floating around. I like this one the best, so far, because it only has two settings, high and low. Read morePublished 23 days ago by kp
