This is a quiet and effective small fan. I have used it as a spare fan to lower the temperature of a 7200 rpm hard drive. Lately, I have been using it to blow air directly into/from the heat sink of a hybrid tube headphone amplifier. I have been able to do this because the fan's chord is long (at 20 inches) and it comes with a molex adapter. Also, I have the computer case on top of my desk at my right hand. So, all this makes the chord long enough to connect the fan to a free molex connector on my desktop PSU without having the case open, as the chord is long enough to enter the case through its backside.
From the experience with this fan, I can say that it blows enough air to produce significant cooling in whatever is closely in front of the fan, while being very quiet at the same time. I just placed a grill behind the fan, and it is less quiet than it was without the grill, but it is still quiet and effective.
I tried this fan as a case fan and even though I did not make any temperature measurements, it was obvious to me that it would take more than one of these, to have a significant drop in temperature in a computer case.
The blades are detachable in order to make cleaning of the fan, an easier task. It looks nice, too. The red blades and the black frame are a nice color combination for a fan of this size.
Four isolator mounts are included to replace the four (included) mounting metal fan screws. Those are very hard to introduce in the case mounting holes and if the metal screws are tight, there seems to be no vibrational noise coming from them.
I am happy with this purchase and I would have been willing to pay up to $8.99 including shipping, for this fan.Read more ›
This replacement unit is as quiet, but has a 3-position speed range selector. Of course, it can be speed-controlled by firmware on your computer motherboard/BIOS, but the range selector gives better control. I highly recommend this.

This is the 3rd time I bought these fans. The others I bought few years ago have been running well, quietly without
any problem so far. I would recommend it.
After running out of patience with my NAS making way too much noise, I finally replaced the two failing 80mm rear fans with two of these units. Read morePublished on June 24, 2013 by Brian D.
Its just what I needed. I picked it up to put in an old frag box that only had a sad little 80mm intake fan. This thing pushed a ton more air and its fairly quiet at that. Read morePublished on March 29, 2013 by SomeRandomGuy
