Creating Classrooms of the Future
Playtime is important to healthy brain development. In fact, it's through play that children at a very early age engage & interact in the world around them. Playtime allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, & physical, cognitive, and emotional strength.
Space in early childhood development, includes not only the physical area and objects for playing and learning, but also includes the time, attitude, and energy that are important for healthy physical, social, and psychological development. New research in sociological and environmental behavior has shown the impact of learning environments on various behaviors: territorially, crowding, situational and personal space.
Exposure to diversity builds young children's self-confidence, increases awareness and appreciation. The inclusion of diverse beliefs and cultures in early childhood education also maximizes children's academic achievement and educational success.

I did not purposely buy the clear set, which has the exact same pieces as the 48 piece solid color set. I got it because it was Amazon Prime available and the solid color set was not. When I bought the clear set it was only a couple of dollars more expensive than the solid color set. The clear was selling for $67 and the solid color set was selling for $65.
Fortunately, my two kids agreed that the solid set is my daughter's and the clear set is my son's. So no more warfare concerning this one toy!
The quality of this set is as good as the original set we bought. The pieces are durable and can take a reasonable amount of banging. I should add that neither of my children is rough with their toys, so rarely do toys in my house break. (Neither throws their toys, jumps on them, etc.) I should add the pieces are the exact same proportion as our older set so pieces between the two are interchangeable.
I highly recommend this toy. It may seem pricey but it lasts and your kids will play with them for a long time.
I bought this 32-piece set for travel and quickly realized that it wasn't really enough pieces to do much. I then bought the 48 pc set and realized that the box is actually longer than the original 100 pc set I purchased. I think both the 32 and 48 pc sets are great as an expansion pack but you should really start out with the Magna-Tiles Clear Colors 100 Piece Set if you have enough money---I found it cheaper on Jet.com--for it as I felt like the Magna-Tiles 12148 Clear Colors 48 pc DX set Toy is also only good as an expansion pack.
My favorite pieces from this set are the door frame and door. I also love the door but I wish there was more than one. The hole-punched triangles, my husband thought, were pretty useless though they make pretty good windows as well. The arch is really fantastic as well. But I stand by feeling that this is really an expansion set and you should start with the 100 so you have a solid, well-rounded set to play with for years to come.
When my daughter plays with these tiles on her own, she creates shapes and patterns in 2 dimensions on the carpet, the kitchen floor or the fridge. Squares and triangles merge together into a multicolored, crystalline work of abstract art. She truly gets lost in her own world when she's making her pieces of Magna-Tile "art."
1. Encourage creative play whether it's building towers or making artwork.
3. Building requires finesse and refined motor skills.
2. To build anything truly tall or challenging, you need a second set.
The combination of 1. and 2. made me give this product 4 stars instead of 5.
Despite their somewhat steep price, I would recommend these tiles.
She took immediately to these things. On her first playing, she built a small house for some princess characters she had plus a garage, roof, even a garden. Because the magnetic plastic tiles are easier to line up, no frustration issues either. Sometimes a piece will fall, but she'll just slide it right back in place. So far so good.
These are a little pricey, but I think it's great for playing with plus teaching her shapes. When she first started playing with them, she kept calling the triangle - squares. So it's good teach her the correct names for all the shapes. I made a cube and pyramid for her too, and she loved that.
Education, fun, and mostly frustration free so it's definitely worth the price. I bought the 100 piece Magna-Tiles set too, and I may get even more.
