1. It is not too loud. I have it inside and my bike has in-between road tires/off road tires and I can hear the TV just fine w/o blasting the volume.
2. It's cheap. Unless you're a pro or have the extra money to throw around, just get this. I haven't used any other units like this but I rather imagine you'd still pedal your bike the same way on any of them.
3. It offers pretty good resistance thru its range. Gear up if it's not enough. If it's still not enough, you don't need one, go out and play. I'd rather be out riding but it's 115 degrees out and, well, that's enough said about that.
4. There's no problem with the bike "falling off" this stand. I weigh 240 (right now) and have no problems with it. It's VERY stable.
5. I imagine the spinning thing under the tire gets hot. Let's see... spin something really fast - it gets hot. Do I care? No. Do I need to go touch it when I'm done pedaling? No.
6. Get the wheel block at the same time. I didn't. I should have. Even the 3" or so the back tire is off the ground makes a difference. Or gouge out a 2x4. I don't care.
7. And remember: If this thing is like most other exercise equipment we all buy and then turn into dust collecting clothes hangers, the 60 or 70 bucks this thing costs won't hurt as much as a treadmill or elliptical or recumbent bike.

Is It Too Loud? I say NO.

There is some disagreement as to whether or not this trainer is "loud" or "noisy". Since "too loud" and "very quiet" are subjective you can't judge by someone else's standards. So here is a video allowing you to decide for yourself. [I hope.]

Magnet Steel Bike Trainer AWESOME!

I'm usually a skeptic when it comes to ordering stuff online most of the time it's not exactly what you thought it would be or work like you'd like, maybe I expect to much. But I gotta say this product was everything it was listed as even the color black just like the pic you see and it works great. The best thing I've bought in years maybe ever. Putting it together is so easy I thought maybe it was to good to be true, it's even better. The tires on my mountain bike are more of a road tire not smooth but by no means a true mountain bike tire the reason I'm telling you this is a lot of the comments says how noisy this Trainer is but actually it's not that noisy at all mainly depending on the tire used. I also received the Trainer within a week. The settings via the cable that you attach to the bike is a really nice asset you get a nice workout minus all the hills and such on the road. Buy one you will not be disappointed, the only thing I do have to order is a front block riser for the front tire just to raise it a little and even without one it's not bad at all. I enclosed a pic of the Magnet Steel Trainer with my mountain bike attached.

A Durable Machine Where It Matters Most

This bicycle trainer will not disappoint you, especially for the price. Customer service is very reasonable to work with should you have any kind of issue. Once I set up my mountain bike to this machine, I was impressed at its strength considering its size. Also, as I am currently weighing at 200 lbs., the fact that it locks the bike in place and remains solid when adding my weight to it, I have come to trust this device without question. I'm glad I chose this machine during these very tight economic times.

Well did'nt this just save me hundreds of dollars instead of getting an exercise bike. Fits on the rear bolt ends that stick out of bike with included adapters. i ride a huffy capri bike from the 80's and it fits.

Why Pay More For A Bike Trainer?

I borrowed a friend's $350.00 (lime green) Kinetic trainer before purchasing this one. The Kinetic trainer was indeed made of heavier duty materials and almost entirely constructed of metal. However, I still did not see an almost $300.00 dollar difference in price that I could justify. The stability of the two trainers seemed almost identical. This trainer actually has a feature that the Kinetic did not have with the remote handlebar tension control.

The trainer I received was slightly different from the photo on Amazon. Mine has two identical molded plastic handles like the handle of the right in the photo instead of the lever on the left side that is shown. This did not seem to affect the functionality of the trainer but I do wonder if the lever would have given it a quick release on the left side like the Kinetic. This is still not a three hundred dollar difference. Works great and I have already recommended it to a friend.

VERY dissatisfied!

If I could rate this product a ZERO I would. The plastic bushings and inserts which anchor the Stand to the axel of the bike split or broke in less than 5 hours of use...perhaps a total of $1.00 in parts. I asked the seller to either replace those parts or allow me to return the product, pre-paid by them. They refused my request?!? I received no justification for that refusal...only that my request was denied. I did submit 9 pictures of the failed parts and Stand as requested by the seller.

Be VERY CAREFUL if you purchase this product as when those plastic pieces fail, the bike could fall off the stand and perhaps cause the rider to fall off the bike...it could be a SAFETY HAZARD if that occurs...especially for a person of mature age (I am 68) who might not have the balance of a 40 year old.

In the interest of transparency and full-disclosure, I might have erred when I informed the seller that I am considered somewhat of an international expert when it comes to many types of plastics, and I informed them that the engineering specifications for these plastic parts was wrong because they used the wrong type of plastic...perhaps they did not appreciate being informed of their error and the denial of my claim might be their way of paying-me-back? If that is the case, then the seller seems to project a lack of professionalism in dealing with customers.
