I really liked this clean mail order historical romance novel. It was a good, clean read.

The hero fled Boston due to great loss and scandal. He made life for himself out west but is lonely. He advertises for mail order bride and is shocked, but happy someone respond. He takes her invitation to travel to pick her up. He doesn't want her making the dangerous journey on his own.

Love at firstsight , but the past stands in the way to their HEA. Hero was pawn in his father's manipulations and deception, but with strength of a smart and determined heroine he gets the help to right the wrongs done.

I loved the heroine. She was level headed, mature and smart. She was not going to be denied, what she has waited lifetime for: good man to love her. She was forced to work following her father's death but she was past age of being insecure. She was one tough cookie;)

It is a clean read. No OW or OM. Sweet hero, found his HEA with the heroine:)

This was a really sweet, enjoyable read for me. It's short and sweet, just long enough to enjoy in one evening. I really liked the way we got to see their relationship develop in this, from the advertisement he placed for a bride, to the letters they wrote each other, and eventually meeting. So many other mail order romances just sort of drop you into the middle of the story where the bride is already on her way to meet her husband, but we got to see it develop in this book, which was nice. The other positive thing is that the whole story was clean, and sweet, no cursing or explicit sex scenes for those who don't care for that, this is the book for you! I really liked this book and would listen to her other books as well!

There are inherent obstacles to writing a short story. This story tackles the issues of developing characters, building relationships, and creating a storyline that flows smoothly and ends with the feeling of satisfied completeness better than many I have read. I wouldn't put it at the top, but it is far from the bottom. I added a star along with a big thumbs up for proper editing (thank you! It truly makes a difference). There is one thing that tends to bug me and that is illogical fallacies. They pull me out of the story zone. In this book it is a blaring impossibility, but very minor to the story, that could have been left out without touching the integrity. Personally, although I didn't connect with the characters, I did enjoy the story. It's a quick, clean, feel good book that was worth my time. Read it, enjoy it, and just for fun see if you can find the simple logistical error.

Mail order brides and grooms obviously have problems which is what made them take a chance on people they never met before. Somehow, this governess has no faults, and actually behaved as a saint. Not believable. The other characters and the plot are fine, which is why this didn't get a 1-star.

I was looking for something to read on my computer and stumbled onto this title.
I wasn't sure how I would like it. I'm not really a fan of historical romances. Or thought I wasn't!
I am now and a fan Karla Gracey! I'll be checking out additional titles from this series for sure.

This was a fun and quick read for me. I started it and couldn't stop. Stayed up way too late but I was intrigued with the story and the characters.

The story line wasn't what I expected. The typical guy meets girl. Guy wants/gets girl. Then trauma, or tragedy or an x comes in and causes trouble. They split then get back together at the end and all is well. Happily ever after. The end.

This story wasn't like that. There was sweet romance. Via letters. Till Carlton shows up in Boston to meet Myra the girl who answered his ad for a Mail Order Bride. A quick romance that began through their letters quickly takes the next step to a wedding.

But before they can wed unexpected trouble arises. Carlton has to face his past and figure out a way to move forward. And tell Myra about his past.

I enjoyed the story. And I enjoyed that there weren't a lot of characters. And a lot of twists and turns and sub stories involved. I think this is what made it such a fast read for me. Trying to count
I don't believe there a more than a dozen characters total. And some are never even introduced in the book. (The family Myra works for as a governess is out of town.)

A Bride For Carlton is Book #1 in the Sun River Brides Series. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

I read this book on my computer using the Kindle Cloud app. I was not offered this book
by anyone and was not asked to write a review.

A good short story well written. Good narrative voice telling the story. I enjoyed the story and the loose ends were tied up in the epilogue. A man in Montana writes an add in the paper for a bride, not your usual Mailorder Bride. Read the book and find out if someone answers. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was there was 1 curse word used 2 times close together. It kinda shocked me because it was such a clean book otherwise. Not real ugly but I don't like any curse words. It may not bother other people where it does me.
