Alice is a saloon girl although she never does the extras upstairs but her boss Elmer wants her to. Will she or won't she?
How does Alice arrive in Valley Glen? Does she stay? Does she marry Henry? Oh no she's back in Helena, what drove her back? What will she do Now?
What about Henry, what does he do now that Alice left? Will these two ever realize they are in Love? What horrible trials will they face? Will they learn to forgive each other?
You can definitely find out by getting this exciting book and read it for yourself to find out everything that happens. I highly recommend this book as well as the other books in this series. They are all fantastic. This is the last brother but I hope their stories continue! I've enjoyed this series immensely.
and becomes Henry's mail order bride.
I REALLY loved this book, but then there is this big thing that I just couldn't accept: the fact that as soon as she saw Henry, she decided that he must never find out about her past. Even after he said that he didn't care about her past ( he thought she entertained men in her parlor), she still didn't want to tell him. But then I put myself in that situation and realize that there was no way of telling if he would forgive her (a soiled dove is worse than a lady who entertains men in her parlor??). What she had to go through was actually very bad and having no other way of supporting herself, she had to endure that. This is the part that made me emotional and my heart ached for her. Even though I didn't like the fact that she lied, I still give the book 5 stars, because we get to see what she endured and it really was heartbreaking. I would definitely recommend this book.
Alice is a saloon girl. She refuses to go upstairs to please the customers but her boss has decided after all these years that if she wants to keep her job she'll have to go upstairs with one of his regulars. She refuses and walks out. She had met a good man at the wedding of her friend. He had danced with her all night and written to her a couple of times after she had come home. She hadn't answered him but saw his ad for a mail order bride from him and this time she sent a letter telling him she would marry him. She had to keep her secret from him.
Henry Ackerman had really been attracted to Alice but she hadn't answered his letters so he sent an ad to the paper. He was shocked when she responded. She was so beautiful. Things started to go all wrong soon after the wedding. He knew she was keeping things from him but all he got from her was lies. Finally she tells him about the saloon but he refuses to believe her innocence so she runs off. What was he suppose to do? She made her choice.
A journey of forgiveness, love, and trust.
Leah Lauren is one of the most prolific authors I know. How does she keep turning out hit after hit?
Mail Order Bride - A Saloon Girl’s Tale is the story of the fifth Ackerman. Henry met Alice at his brother Tom’s wedding. He thought she was the most beautiful woman he had ever met. And when he asked his sisters about her, they thought there was no reason to tell him about Alice’s occupation. Why would they? Alice lived in Montana. Henry lived in Indiana.
But unbeknown to the sisters, Henry had written to Alice. When she would not respond, he placed an ad for a mail order bride.
Alice was not like some saloon girls. She refused do the things that were expected of some of the girls. And her stubbornness cost her her job.
So Alice responded to Henry’s ad. She traveled to Indiana and they were wed. But Alice could not tell Henry the truth. Was this marriage doomed from the beginning?
Read Mail Order Bride - A Saloon Girl’s Tale for the rest of the story.
