This book is small in stature, but packs a big punch. Like the other books in the architecture series, this book manages to show grand houses, landscaping, parks, mansions and even historic sites in Savannah. If you have visited, you will be instantly transported back to these grand places. If you have never visited, you can almost smell the furniture polish or feel the cobblestones beneath your feet.

This book contains a small amount of history and information, but has tons of color pictures of historic sites and houses in Savannah. Just like the picture on the cover, the photographs are beautifully done and draw you in. There were pictures of the outdoor marketplaces, pirate houses, cafes and taverns, churches and some of the more glorious houses I have ever seen. Landscaping too, parks and lush gardens.

If you are interested in Savannah's history, architecture or landscaping, you will enjoy this book. Check out some of the other books in the series as well.

Having visited Savannah over the years, I find this book very interesting. I have seen most of the places in this book and it serves me of some very good times I had while visiting Savannah. If you are visiting for the first time, - - get this book, it will guide you to the best of the best.

This book was a high school graduation gift for a friend's grandson who is moving to Savannah for college. He liked the book very much. It's about the size he can easily carry around when he goes to visit these historic buildings.

I was rather disappointed with this book. It just seemed like an expensive travel brochure to me. I would never have purchased this had I seen it in a bookstore.

I assumed this collection would have a variety of views of Historic Savannah and cover everything such as famous homes, gardens, public places, landscapes, river views, parks, public buildings and historic landmarks. Instead it concentrates almost exclusively on the interiors of famous homes and uninspired exterior shots of famous private homes. There is only one shot of the river and it's of a container ship passing by. The interior views are bland museum shots - the kind of thing you'd expect to be handed to you for free along with a guide on a tour. And there are only 3 shots of houses of worship, 2 of them drab interiors.

If you were hoping to see views of some of the places mentioned in Midnight In The Garden of Good Evil such as the famous bird girl - forget it! I wasn't expecting this to be a set of cards dedicated to the scenes from that book by any means but with all the beauty in Savannah it took a terribly dull editor to assemble such unremarkable images! The only saving grace is that these are regular sized postcards that will take a 27 Cent Stamp. If these were oversized postcards such as most of the city and state collections published these days, I wouldn't dream of wasting 42 cents on one. I probably will only use 5 or 6 of the cards as it is. I would suggest looking for one of the Georgia or general South themed books from Brown Trout Publishing instead. Those never disappoint.

This a good, small coffee table book for anyone that loves the architecture and history of old American cities.
