I really love this game. I never used to be a big MLB 2K Series Fan, but they've gotten way better in recent years. I used to play Triple Play(and then MVP) all the time and I wish they'd come back but I can't be disappointed by this game. It looks and plays great, and it's very accurate. There is natural tension in games, in various situations like bottom of the 9th 2 outs, or 2 batters away from a perfect game. This brings a great added element to the game, something real baseball has. Plus whenever you do overcome one of those situations, it feels great because the game really makes you earn it.

In order to play this game you have to trick your PC's date. You have to change the date to a day in 2012 in order for it to load or it will freeze. Other then this it is the best you can do with what you have.

This game is barely tolerable based on bugs that were never fixed.

PROS:
*Should provide lasting appeal with the amount of career modes available.

CONS:
*Coaching AI decisions is sometimes perplexing. I played as a pitcher and we were tied in the bottom of the ninth with runners in scoring position. The AI decided to let me bat. This was not just a fluke as it happened several times.

*Game physics sometimes does not reflect realistic movements. A routine ground ball to the first baseman would get a hit over half the time because the runner would beat out the fielder.

*The game will not load and freeze if you do not set your system time to a point during the 2012 regular season. It was not that big of a deal. It only takes a few seconds to complete every time I wanted to play the game.

*Some of the hall of fame requirements for pitchers are bugged and I did not make it into the hall of fame at the end of my career.

OVERALL: This game was definitely designed for a console and just ported over to the PC. I paid less than $10 for the game so it was worth the entertainment for my money given the drawbacks. If you enjoy baseball and the price is right, I think you would like this game if you can put up with the occasional flops. Even though there are several more CONS than PROS, I would buy it again for the price I paid.

There is a problem with this game right off the bat that prevents it from loading up. It seems like its a problem with 2K's online.
To Fix: change your computer's date to Sept 3rd, 2012, then load the game. It should load fine now. Log into the 2k online whatever and update your rosters. once that is done you should be able to save and change your date back to current. I did this and had no problems at all after that. There is a modding resource mvpmods.com that is really cool for the game. My wife came in after putting some of the mods and asked me why i was watching a re-run of the Tigers game. At second glance she realized that its a video game and was amazed. She actually sat there a minute and watched me play! It's the best computer baseball game we got and with some of the mods its really a cool experience to play a baseball game where everything looks authentic from the lighting and details, down to the ads in the stadium. Its crazy to think how much one misses the little Cesar's ad on the top of Comerica scoreboard until you play a game without it. It really puts you into the game when everything is the same as in the real stadium. (there are two mods, one for AL and one for NL that fix all the stadiums to current as of oct 2012)
Not a 5 star because i shouldn't have to change my computer's date to get a game to work right.

Got this game knowing there was serious bugs and problems. Had a friend who had bought (not through steam) and had to set his time back 2 years so it could work amongst other problems. I was ready for the worst, and to my surprise everything worked out just fine. The game is fun, so far no bugs or problems. Some glitches here and there but nothing too out of the ordinary. Running it on windows 8 x64 at max settings and its working fine. Play mostly the career mode and its pretty fun. Not a lot of game modes but for the price its at now its totally worth it. If you're looking for a baseball game for your pc, you will not regret it. My PC is outdated, i cant play any games from 2010 or later and it has no trouble running this.

Every game is buggy; it feels like the game was released before all of the kinks were worked out. At first it was bearable, but now its to the point where it is costing me games. Ground balls going right through/underneath my players when it is clearly able to be fielded, players not tagging the runners for an out even when running into them, etc. All of these bugs are compounded by the sloppy gameplay. You runner can attempt to steal second/third, but when the catcher throws the ball you have time to turn around and run safely back to first/second without getting thrown out. When a ball is hit to the outfield, it switches to you to the nearest outfielder, but you have to wait a second before you can react properly to it to where the ball is going. This second has cost me many clear outs, outs that the computer makes. Also outfielders routinely catch fly balls that are nearly impossible to make in real baseball. I cant tell you how many times a ball has been hit well over my head, and my player is running straight back, with his back away from the ball, only to catch the ball without looking/breaking stride. Its just too unrealistic.

There are other little things, like not being able to check other divisions standings in franchise mode. This leaves me unable to check my position in the wildcard race. Also I have not yet found a way to easily compare individual player standings, and team standings in the league. This game seems to be so buggy and missing so many common sense features, it is truly frustrating and odd to think it was released as is.
