Also, this needs a good re-edit. Missing commas, misspellings, missing words from a sentence, the wrong word used sometimes. Just things that caught my attention or caused me to read a sentence again.
I do think the author had something interesting going in the beginning. And I did like some elements of this story: the high school setting, the Cinderella theme, the surly, brooding hero. Certain aspects of the story were entertaining, especially if you don't mind teenage angst and drama. And I do happen to like that, but I have to say that here it was just a little too much for me. The book does end with a complete story for the main couple, they finally get there in the end!, and it sets up the next book, Break Me, about Royal, the hero's best friend.
I need more....I know this was a series but also a standalone but cannot wait for the next book already. I love Amanda's writing!!
Wow, just started this book 3 hrs ago and just finished it.....loved it deeply!!
Channing and Paisley, what can we say about those two
Royal and Rachel-twins
Royal loves Wes and Rachel loves Kellan
then we have grandparents fighting over grandchildren and their inheritance and telling them who they can and cannot love
Synopsis on next book for Royal and Wes but I think it is Rachel who is pregnant at the end of this book....guess we will find out later
"You are my effing girlfriend so get use to that title till I put a ring on that finger" ~~Channing
But... there were just so many things wrong, beginning with the book's cover art. The cover featured shows a girl with dark brown or black hair, while it's stated frequently that Paisley is a redhead.
If that were all, I could get past that. The book is chock full of grammatical errors that even a really good grammar checker like Microsoft Word should catch. And oh, the sentence fragments. (See what I did there?)
The story was full of inconsistencies within characters and between characters. Here's one example: it's stressed that the main character has served as a mother to her baby sister and is willing to give up her future to care for the child when she graduates. However, she rarely thinks twice about the baby when their lives change. That bothered me, and it was only one such instance.
Even with these issues, I didn't hate the book. I think the author started from a really strong idea and would benefit from some thoughtful editing.
I freaking loved this book!! It has been a long time since I have read a book that I truly wanted to consume, but this book totally consumed me. I couldn’t put it down. Paisley is an amazing young heroine. She is strong, tough, proud and amazingly sweet when she wants to be. Channing is in a class all his own!! He is brooding and moody and I loved every freaking minute of it. Yet, he can also be charming, sweet, and totally swoon worthy. This story’s plot just keeps intertwining together and gets better as the pages turn. I read this book with a smile on my face and a happy heart. The story was well written and the author felt like she was connected to the characters. Simply amazing!!
