5 out of 5 stars
The story Make Me Yours by Charity Ferrell is a new adult/military romance book. This is the love story of Hudson and Stella. Stella needs a bodyguard. Hudson has just returned from an overseas tour in the military. Not long after they meet the sparks begin to fly. They both are from very different worlds. Are they able make their relationship work or are there just too many differences to overcome?
From the very beginning, this book had me hooked. I love the story of the bodyguard falling in love with the woman he is protecting. The story is told from the POV of both Hudson and Stella. Stella is a TV star that is breaking into movies. Movies are quite different and a TV series and she doesn’t seem to enjoy the work. Stella has grown up in the spotlight and has found out the people can be very fake, even those that say they love you. The case in point is her ex-boyfriend. There are also conditions she has to abide by when making and promoting her latest film that while may not be unusual for Hollywood, to anyone else would be very strange. She then meets her new bodyguard Hudson. He doesn’t keep it a secret that he is attracted to her. Their flirting is constant. Stella has an assistant and best friend Willow who is constantly advising Stella that she needs to find a man and doesn’t keep it a secret that she should hook up with Hudson.
Hudson is a small-town guy and has just returned from overseas. He is heartbroken from the break up with his fiancé and doesn’t really want to take the job guarding Stella. He does it to help his brother. Family is very important to Hudson. He is close with his parents, brother, and sister. When he finally meets Stella he knows that he is in trouble. He finds himself not able to stop thinking of her and having to live in the same house doesn’t help the issue. He has made it clear that he is only temporary and is only there until Stella can find a replacement. Then as the days go by their connection begins to grow. A tragedy calls Hudson back home and Stella follows. What happens next will test the strength of their relationship. Will it survive or will they be torn apart forever? This story made me laugh and cry at the same time. The depth of both Stella and Hudson’s feelings for each other is amazing. I love to get lost in a good love story and I had this one read in one afternoon. I highly recommend it. This book does have mature themes and adult situations. It would be for those 18 years of age or older.
Kindle Unlimited offers a story that is both Irreverent and hilarious.
A soldier's homecoming is ruined by his cheating fiance's plans to marry his best friend. To make matters worse, his discharge was hastened by the terminal illness of his sister-in-law. Now Hudson has agreed, reluctantly, to be the bodyguard for his brother's famous protectee so that his brother can be with his wife and child. It all sounds rather ominous but do not fear. Despite the storyline, these characters are real and captivating, both physically and emotionally.
Let me share with you, the story of a couple who's feelings range from strong dislike at first sight on the part of the Hudson, the Marine, to "I love me a good smart ass woman."
Stella, the child TV star, now movie star, on the other hand, appreciates the finer male attributes but recognizes that "they always come with a side dish of problems." Hudson is a Jack of All Trades who fix s*** shoots s*** and cooks s***. Her kind of man entirely. The only problem is that to this point he has been a one-woman man and not at all interested in a little extracurricular activity. Stella also was just basically dumped after a long term relationship and trust is not in her toolbox. Her contract also precludes a relationship at this point.
Their affiliation, bodyguard and protectee, blows hot and cold with texting arguments from separate rooms in the same house followed by middle of the night tea parties. Both are very clear that "sharing is not always caring". Stella is not interested in sharing her best "man toy". Been there. Done that.
There are some titillating yet funny moments, such as the first hormonal cataclysm when he rips her favorite top off to prevent it from getting water damage. I laughed out loud.
If you are looking for a romantic comedy with very serious overtones and an extremely HEA...this is the one! 4.5 stars. My sincere appreciation for the recommendation by Itsy Bitsy Book Bits as this is an entirely entertaining read.

This is a book that falls into a troupe that is seen all over adult contemporary. A woman who has sworn off men. Loves to work and just feels like that will be what gets her off for the foreseeable future. Things are working for her them BOOM a man comes in and turns everything upside down. He is everything she is not and everything she keeps telling herself she does not want.
Stella and Hudson do have a cute love story even for the clichés that come with their tale. While the pair are interesting on their own, I feel that Stella is a typical “not your normal starlet” kind of girl so her story line was lack luster for me. Hudson on the other hand has depth upon depth about him! I loved everything Hudson. While their story was very tension and chemistry driven, I only kept reading for Hudson to see if things turn out in his favor. Latching on to a character as complex as him is something to definitely keep the pages turning!
Make Me Yours is not a bad adult contemporary. I feel that while it falls into the troupes, I did really find myself enjoying and wanting to read on while I was focusing on the book. It is not badly written by any means so it is a very quick and fun read! If you’re looking for a steamy love story where the male and female fight their chemistry leaving all kinds of tension, you will love this book!
