Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
LJ's reviewer dubbed this "an important documentary autobiography by a man who became one of the most important black leaders" (LJ 1/1/72). Forman here details his role as the leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, but in telling his story he is also relating that of many other Civil Rights advocates and indeed of the Sixties itself. Now featuring a new foreword by Julian Bond, this remains "moving, dramatic, at times overwhelming." Essential for Black History Month.

There are no words to convey how vital this book is for everyone in the world to read to learn about history in America. James - Jim Forman is one of the most remarkable people in the world and I am so thankful to him that he left us this historical book. Amen

I like it, but it's definitely obvious which parts of the autobiography were embellished or spruced up by Forman to make him look good (not denying his significance in the movement, just challenging some of his claims)...there are certainly conflicting accounts about some of the stuff he says. I liked the beginning chapters the best. I had to read this for a CIvil Rights History course. My roommate thinks he looks hot on the cover.

Great Condition, but it could have come a lot quicker than it did. But the book was good price and it is basically brand new.

I fully recommend purchasing this book from this company. Even though the book was used, it still looks brand new. Also, the book I received was an autographed copy from James Forman himself.

I think this book should be required reading for anyone who dares to consider themselves an American historian. I read it ALL for a Black Power class I was sitting in on, and found Forman an amazing activist-historian. I'm so glad he kept telling everyone in SNCC "Turn in your field notes!"

The Making of Black Revolutionaries is a fantastic read and an invaluable resource for all those who want to make history in America, whether struggling against racism or engaging in any other freedom fight. Jim Forman's gripping first-hand account of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) includes testimony from other participants and excerpts from documents of the time.
