DAVID CAY JOHNSTON is an investigative journalist and winner of a 2001 Pulitzer Prize for journalism. A long-time reporter for the New York Times and the former president of the Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE), he is also the author of several New York Times bestsellers, including Perfectly Legal and Free Lunch. He has won the IRE Medal and a George Polk Award for his investigative reporting, and is a columnist for The Daily Beast, National Memo and USA TODAY. Deeply unsettling, the facts and history laid out by David Cay Johnston evince the long history of a shady, greedy, and relentlessly sociopathic media mogul and his rise to power. From half-baked schemes, to false identities this book reads like a group of coiffed mob bosses sitting around a tacky gilded table trying to one-up each other with their stories. Except they're all Trump and they're all his stories and they're all true. This book will leave your jaw dropped as you have to repeatedly remind yourself THIS IS REAL.

This is the one I was waiting for! There’s no flashing lights here, no cartoon versions of real people, no wallowing in moral outrage. Instead, it’s got all the facts you need to explain to your pro-Trump friends (or that weird uncle at Thanksgiving- lol!) EXACTLY what’s in Trump’s record: and that’s what makes him so dangerous. Full of good detail, with sources noted.

Comprehensive Biography

This is the third Trump biography which I have read. Although all three illustrate Trump's lack of honesty and character, this one is the most complete and detailed. It reveals Trump's connections to Mob members and other unsavory characters that are very disturbing.

Trump - First US President who would OWE Putin money

Trump - First US President who would owe Putin money? Without the release of his Tax Returns, this is a very real possibility. Johnston's book does an excellent job of laying out all the reasons Trump would never get a security clearance (yes, I realize the Presidency doesn't involve security clearances) at any level: mobs ties, being found guilty of discrimination against blacks trying to rent at Trump properties, stiffing and ruining numerous contractors and Polish workers hired for Trump construction sites, FRAUD stemming from Trump U, SIX bankruptcies which plunged those lenders into ruin and all those "thousands of workers" he hired were left jobless and did they get paid? NO.
Trump has an insatiable appetite for borrowing money (if he really were a billionaire folks, he would not be borrowing all the time) but no one in THIS country will lend to him anymore - they have heard and seen enough to know better. So who does he get money from now? Is it Putin? Maybe...probably. Releasing his Tax Returns would tell us the answer. It is my guess that, yes he owes Putin money and Trump has not paid any taxes in a long time.
Read this book and educate yourself on all the things Trump has gotten away with that make him completely unfit to hold any government position.

A must-read for this election season!

You Will Need To Take A Shower After Reading This Book

As I state in most of my reviews of political figures, I always read both sides. I just recently finished a book "written" by Trump and this book gave me what might be called the opposition view. I have followed and read a number of the author's book and feel he is a good writer and impeccable fact checker.

The Donald Trump that is presented by Trump and his campaign is not the Trump that is portrayed in this book. I lived in Pennsylvania while he was building in Atlantic City and knew of his reputation for failing to pay people what they were owed, but his business style goes much deeper and is much darker.

He has a history of hiring illegal immigrants to work on his buildings, as documented in his building of Trump Tower. Actually, the illegals were hired to demolish the building that was on the lot he was to develop. He didn't provide safety equipment and he was late in paying when he decided to pay at all. Apparently his anti immigration stance is strictly against those from Mexico, as he hired the Polish workers with no problems. And, as with many Trump deals, he wound up in court, being sued for the money he owed.

If that were his only fault, maybe it could be overlooked, but he has associated with and worked with organized crime, lied in court with the old ruse of "I can' remember" and this coming from a man who claims to have the world's best memory. In addition, he has swindled investors on numerous occasions, including on several building projects. Most times he settles out of court, after making his victims wait months or years, and then has the court record sealed, so it is very difficult to just how much guilt he admits.

There are any number of billionaires in the US that have done it the legal, honest and hard way. Trump always chose whatever short cut would save him the most money and allow him to keep the largest profit. No level of slime seems to have been too low for him to go….and then his ego makes him make statements that are ludicrous.

This is a book that needs to be read by anyone who is thinking about voting for Trump, as it will give you a look into his way of business and how he might try to run the country. I literally felt dirty as I finished the book and really felt a shower was in order to wash away the slime of Donald Trump.
