Review

"Great storytelling with a wonderful mix of love (friend, family and romantic), humor and saucy sexiness, I hope there will be many, many more books in this series." - Give Me Books

"This was a complicated, sweet and hot read with characters that I grew to really care about. Plus, there's lots of fodder for future stories with friends and siblings-something a series lover like myself always likes to see." - All About the Book

"Every moment in this book was a joy and I cannot wait to get to the third book in the series." - Red Cheeks Reads

Making a Play picks up right where we left off with One More Shot. Jessie and Jordan are back in Silver Bay for the summer living in the house the girls grew up in and Jordan bought. Rose is working for the summer at a local bar before she takes a trip to Europe with her friend and is looking to take a year off. Her long-time friend Luc, best friend of Jordan and NHL hockey player is back in town for the summer to lay low and stay away from women. His current team is not happy with his playing record nor all the bad press his former girlfriend has brought him and Luc is determined to stay focused on one thing only, Hockey. Rose is tired of being the same old plain Rose. Luc will only ever see her as a friend so she has decided to give up on her crush, change things up and she if she can once and for all find her prince charming. Luc has always been attracted to Rose but never wanted to act on things and ruin their friendship, Rose always calmed him, grounded him and figures it is better for them to remain friends. But when Rose changes things up, Luc takes notice, but so do all the other guys in town and Luc doesn’t like it.

I really liked how the author played out Rose and Luc’s story. They were long-time friends, although Rose always wanted more but there was also an attraction between these two. When the author brought these two characters back together in this story, she did a really great job building the changing of their relationship really well and the sexual tension along with it. And I must add that I really enjoyed the dynamics of their relationship in this story as well as the angst and drama that went along with it.

Luc and Rose have been close for years and Rose has been crushing on him this whole time. Now Luc is back in town after having the summer off from his hockey team and he is hoping to spend time with all his friends, especially Rose. Tired of having Luc always see her as his friend's little sister she goes all out on her own power play to make him notice her, and it works. The tough part is Luc already had a disastrous relationship of sorts with a model and he is skating on thin ice with his organization.

Rose finally has Luc where she wants him but she has to deal with it being a somewhat secret relationship. Their friends and family know the truth but how long can this last, and what does it mean for their future.

I really enjoyed this story. Even though I didn't read the first book in this series, I found that I could totally enjoy this story and didn't feel that was a hindrance. There is some funny banter amongst the friends and there are definitely steamy moments between Luc and Rose. The only reason for the half point deduction is that things wrap up too quickly and we don't get enough after the conflict resolution. Perhaps we will get more on Luc and Rose as the series goes on. Either way, looking forward to reading Devin's story.

We met Luc and Rose in book one and you could tell she had a big crush on him and he was always there for her but had her 'friend-zoned'. As time passed, their friendship was even stronger, and as Luc was trying to escape further media coverage since it was hurting his career, he started having feelings for Rose. He was trying to avoid women and relationships but it seemed Rose was one woman he couldn't avoid, in his life and his heart.

I love how Rose never faltered from her love for him, but at times I felt she was a doormat. She let Luc walk on her when he wanted to keep them a secret. I know she was a romantic and wanted to have Luc for herself but I just wanted to shake her to get her to stand up and fight for him and their relationship. I enjoyed how well Luc opened up and once he decided he wanted her, he didn't want to let her go. The sheets were hot and their love was amazing!

I couldn't even finish this book. I read the first book in this series & liked it. But I'm tremendously disappointed by this one. The heroine is a limp noodle. The hero is a two-dimensional douchebag. They were both very immature and had no chemistry. I read about 100 pages and then gave up and bailed out.

Luc and Rose's story is sweet but I didn't fall in love with it as much as Jordan and Jessie. Maybe I thought Rose should've been more upfront with her feelings earlier. Maybe I thought Luc shouldn't have worried so much about sharing their relationship in public. I'm not sure. However, my heart melts every time he calls her "Fleur."

I loved Luc and Rosie's story. I enjoyed the Banter between the characters. Rosie and Luc's Chemistry was off the charts. I felt they were perfect for each other. Luc had me Swooning. I loved that he was French Canadian, and sometimes spoke is French. Very Swoon worthy to me!! The story is well written and I was sucked right in from the beginning. I couldn't put it down. Victoria is a new favorite author for me. I Can't wait to read the next book in the series!
