READING GUIDE
Looking to read more of Tawna's sexy, heartwarming romantic comedies, but notsure where to start? Here's a handy reading guide!

The Front & Center series
Each book in this risqué, laugh-out-loud military series is written as astandalone romantic comedy, but if you'd like to read them in release order, here's how they go:
  • Book 1: Marine for Hire
  • Book 2: Fiancée for Hire
  • Book 3: Best Man for Hire
  • Book 4: Protector for Hire

The First Impressions series
Centered around a PR & Branding agency, the super-steamy FirstImpressions series is written so each of these laugh-out-loud romantic comediesstands on its own. If you'd prefer to read them in order, here's a key:
  • Book 1: The Fix Up
  • Book 2: The Hang Up
  • Book 3: The Hook Up

Single title romantic comedies from Montlake Publishing
These romantic comedies are longer than Tawna's category romances, andsometimes deal with weightier subjects like divorce and infidelity. They'restill romantic comedies at heart, but expect a few tears to be thrown in withthe laughter. The books are not tied together in any way, and can be read inany order.
  • About That Fling
  • Let It Breathe
  • Now That It's You

Single title romantic comedies from Sourcebooks
Lengthier than Tawna's series books, but zanier than any of her othertitles, these wacky, sexy romantic comedies can be read in any order.
  • Making Waves
  • Believe it or Not
  • Frisky Business

Novellas and other offbeat options
The Getting Dumped series offers a cute, cozy mystery in achoose-your-own-adventure format (as does the spinoff novella, The Great PantyCaper), while the standalone romantic novella Eat, Play, Lust is a short littleracy romp designed to be devoured in one sitting.
  • Eat, Play, Lust
  • The Getting Dumped series
  • The Great Panty Caper

This story hits the spot for laugh out loud, fun reading!
Juli is a an attractive, thirty something, woman who has apparently jumped around a lot in her career life. It's sort of okay she is in between jobs because she now has a mission to deliver her uncle's ashes to a watery grave in the Caribbean. Juli decides to play in a newlywed game the night before her charter cruise. It doesn't matter that she just met the man - the prize is $1000.00 and with a quick system they can at least try.

Alex is an executive VP who has just been laid off months before being vested in his pension. He and three other laid off employees have devised a plan to intercept an illegal diamond shipment from their former boss. They figure they're owed the money and they'll get some revenge. The night before they head out on their heist he meets this crazy woman who pulls him into a newlywed game. This behavior is a bit impulsive, but what the heck...why not?

The next morning a dopey Juli stumbles onto what she thinks is her charter boat but instead is the boat Alex and his mates have engaged for pirate purposes. They have their secret plans and don't want a stranger joining, even if Alex says she's "his wife." They don't believe Juli is innocent and in truth she has her own secrets which are revealed in surprising circumstances. The crew decide to let her ride along rather than have her blow the whistle on them before they can implement their act of piracy. Juli's unexpected talents come in handy and she starts to feel like she could maybe "fit in" for a change.

The other crew members have quirky personalities too. I especially like the former football player, Cody, who has found his niche as the crew's creative gourmet chef.

When I first learned about Making Waves, the debut novel by author Tawna Fenske, I had high hopes that she might be a new contemporary author that I would love. The cover quote on the front of Making Waves describes it as "Hilarious! A wild, sexy romp with a fresh, fun take on love." Hence my problem with cover quotes. I know that they are promotional, and therefore exaggerations and sometimes not exactly revealing or truthful and the story contained within the pages. And to be honest, the cover quote on the cover of Making Waves isn't misleading in any way, because the book is fun and at times laugh out loud funny....but because of the quote I think I had unrealistically high, misplaced and unfair expectations of this new to me author being like a beloved author, Jill Shalvis, who writes some of my absolute favorite contemporary romances...and it wasn't, much to my disappointment.

Juli Flynn is a genius, literally. And like most geniuses, she has a problem connecting with people and fitting in and settling into a life with purpose. She's as infamous for her IQ, as for her failures in both life and in love. She's quirky, smart and fun and supposedly absolutely gorgeous.

Alex Bradshaw is a forty something executive who has devoted his life to the pursuit of professional success to prove that he is worthy. After being dumped by his fiancée years ago for a Dentist who could offer her the kind of life, and the money that she wanted, he defines his self worth by his title and his bank account. So when he's given his pink slip with a drained bank account he is left with those old feelings of insecurity and the only way he knows to get back at his unscrupulous boss and fill his empty coffers is to become a pirate.

If you think MAKING WAVES is "just" a romance novel, think again. This book busts all the genres.

Fenske's debut has it all -- laugh-aloud humor, high-seas adventure, steamy romance, fabulous plot twists, and marvelously quirky characters. There's nothing predictable here, from Strip Battleship to an accidental stowaway, government-sanctioned pirates and boardroom diamond thieves. I loved it from start to finish and I'll be looking forward to more novels from Tawna Fenske in the future.

Tawna Fenske's Making Waves is a hilarious wild ride with dashes of sweet romance.

Juli travels to St. John to honor her Uncle Frank's wishes for his cremated ashes to be tossed into the sea. Alex and his band of unlikely pirates arrive in St. John and plan to seize illegal diamonds from their former boss. When Juli accidentally stows away on Alex's ship, she has twenty-four hours to prove she belongs with Alex's ragtag crew and can help with the heist, if she can overcome her seasickness and use her attraction to Alex to further her cause.

Making Waves excels in adventure, humor, and sexy romance. Fenske's characters are quirky and unique; each one is unforgettable. They are probably the worst band of pirates, but hilarity ensues, creating unexpected plot twists that keep a reader guessing. Alex and Juli's chemistry deserves an A plus. The sweet secondary romance between Jake and Phyllis is perfectly awkward and a wonderful addition to the book. Fenske has brilliant wit with dialogue, filled with fun innuendo. This novel is definitely a must-read romantic comedy.

Dysfunctional pirates, humor, and romance abound in Making Waves by Tawna Fenske. I can't want to read more from this comedic debut author!
