For those who are complaining about the shaft breaking - just make sure you do not bend it past 90 degrees because it "will absolutely" break the shaft. The instructions clearly say so. In fact if you find yourself going 90 and above then this may not be the tool for the job. You may want to consider the impact ready bit holder from DeWalt that can pivot to 120 degrees as a tool of choice - of course at the cost of loosing the flex shaft functionality.
Much like the difference between the Dewalt right angle bit holder and Milwaukee impact right angle with the handle.
This keeps a tight hold on the bit so you won’t lose it in the wall and is rated for heavier duty applications and higher torque that my old $10 Ryobi just couldn’t handle.
That being said, my Ryobi isn’t going on the trash. As with everything, really depends on your needs and use cases. Since the Ryobi is a little less rigid, that means you also get a lot more bend and flex out of it, so it may reach places the Makita can’t and be ideal for light applications such as furniture or cabinet installs.
So, as with most things, you get what you pay for. Just make sure you are paying for the thing you need
Of course if you go much higher the torque when it catches will likely wind it up.
But it works very well for small drilling.
It does get warm as you drill. Quite hot actually. But as long as you don't touch the very end (metal part) it's good.
Worth the money, I have a very cheap one that doesn't do nearly as well.
