I find that when vacuuming even our short berber carpet I have to hold the vacuum very low in order to reduce downward pressure and to glide it along the floor. This means hunching over with my arm dangling below me, holding the vacuum and swinging it forward and back. By the time I'm done I'm fairly sore. I'm a 5'10", 35-year-old, fairly athletic man so that's saying something. My kids hate using the vacuum because they can't seem to get a hang of the low angle and it's so difficult for them to maneuver over carpet. If all you use it for is hardwood floors then it's perfect.
The ONLY problem I see with it is the cost. Fortunately, I already had a Makita drill with the 18V lithium ion charger and 2 batteries, but if you don't already have these the buy-in cost will be several times what I paid for just the vac.
UPDATE: Since I have seen some others complain about it not having great suction, I guess I should mention that it will only pick up dust and debris as well as you keep the filter maintained. And since the vacuum is rather small, so is the filter. So you should be doing this more often than with full sized vacuums. It is the nature of the beast - refuse to maintain the filter and your slothfullness will be repayed with an underperforming tool. I keep an old toothbrush handy to knock things off the pre-filter while empying it during vacuuming sessions, and I completely wash the sock filter with dish soap and a high pressure spray from the garden hose nozzle every month or so and let it dry completely. Everyone who has ever used mine has commented on how well it picks up.
I admit it is rather small and maintenance intensive for someone's only vacuum. But to me it has been totally worth the extra effort. After all, the vacuuming gets done now where it rarely did before. And for a shop or "touch up" vacuum it is certainly hard to beat.
