UPDATE: The biggest drawback is when the blower is just not capable of handling the tasks like wet leaves on my deck. My deck is about 300 sq ft and wet leaves on a trex like surface with glass side panels results in leaves sticking to the surfaces and requires my wired blower. Small jobs...dry conditions still a resounding vote yes.
I should have looked in the store the size of this before I bought it. Its much smaller than I imagined, but that's mostly due to my ignorance, not false advertising.
I use it mostly to blow sawdust out of my workshop instead of using my air compressor, and for that task it performs very well. Its also pretty useful for drying cars or motorcycles after you've washed them.
CON: For yard or worksite duties, it’s pretty much limited to blowing lightweight material, e.g., relatively dry grass clippings, leaves, wood dust and the like off paved/hard surfaces. If you’re looking for something to blow material across a lawn, gravel, or to effectively move heavier or wet material across any surface, you will likely be disappointed. Because the nozzle is so short, its use in these applications makes it even more challenging.
We have two properties and own both this blower (DUB182Z) and the DUB183Z, the only apparent difference other than the price being the 183 has a longer nozzle (see photo). Unfortunately, the 183 failed to sustain a short drop onto the lawn, and the handle broke completely off. The unit’s light weight is attributed to hollow plastic parts especially weak where the handle attaches. I’m not the only reviewer that had the same issue. I expect the same flaw in the 182, so will baby it in the future. If you're looking for something even vaguely rugged, look elsewhere. Also. due to the position of the air intake, it has a tendency to attach itself to your clothing if not held sufficiently away from the body.
If you’re still interested, I would get the long nozzle. The short nozzle limits its potential at the worksite or in the yard, on the walkway, porch, driveway, etc. because the unit is relatively under-powered to begin with. The short nozzle may work best for closer work surfaces, but a vacuum may work better in those situations. The long nozzle is sold separately, and it may be cheaper to buy the 182 and the long nozzle, and wind up with the unit plus both nozzles for less than the purchase of the 183 that comes with the long nozzle.
Long story short—This product is designed for light, occasional duties like clearing relatively dry grass clippings, leaves, and wood dust off hard surfaces. Attaching the long nozzle greatly improves its performance for this and similar applications, but still not enough to effectively blow material across lawns or gravel, or heavier or wet material across any surface type. I will be looking for something more rugged and more powerful in the future. Don’t be mesmerized by the price, unless you can live with its shortcomings.
The only things I do NOT like are:
> It needs a lock switch for the trigger. Using it for more than 1 or 2 minutes gets tiresome holding the trigger down.
> The long nozzle accessory is a tad too short. It's barely long enough to reach the ground when I hold the device, and I'm only 5'-8". If you're taller than that, you will definitely have to stoop when blowing leaves.
