Four generations of craftsmanship Four generations of master salt makers have been hand harvesting the naturally formed pyramid flakes that have become Maldon‘s signature. The Osborne‘s have been making the best quality salt for a century. That‘s a long while and a lot of salt for a family both custodians of an ancient culinary tradition and creators of a brand recognised the world over. I love this salt.... well actually all Maldon salts, yes it only a short drive from my house but I've tried many Cornish, French etc sea salts & Maldon tops the lot.
It's a kitchen staple that is appreciated worldwide, I have been using it for more years than I can remember.
I also use it to make small pots of flavoured salts, seaweed, tarragon, rosemary, garlic etc & find it takes on flavours very well with some advanced planning to add a little extra to a special dish.

Really like this salt and had been cooking with it for ages. Used to buy the small boxes at the supermarket until I discovered these larger tubs, which are more value for money. I wish they'd bring back the larger tub as the smaller the tub, the more expensive it is compared to the 1.2Kg. The tub is nice as (compared to the box and plastic bag of the small package) you can reuse it once you're done with the salt --to plant herbs or to keep dry ingredients like pulses or to keep food in the fridge, or keep bits and pieces.

Maldon Salt is something new to me, being just down the road from Maldon, I was shocked at how many people swear by it.

I use this as a finishing salt, I don't use it for seasoning. For seasoning, use basic kosher salt.

But the flavour imparted by this salt when lightly crushed and sprinkled across freshly roasted potatoes or wedges, lightly sprinkled across a salad and so forth is incredible.

It's not overly strong, it's smoky and it has a fantastic texture.

I usually by this salt at the supermarket in small cardboard boxes. This comes in a large plastic tub, much better as the tub is airtight so no chance the salt will gt damp.
