I'm completely addicted to this salt. Not only does it have an interesting pyramid shape, but also it has a delightful crunch. I *want* it on everything. I *need* it on everything. Nom, nom, nom. Highly recommend. As weird as it seems, I've even given this salt as a gift. Now those people are addicted.

BTW, I keep mine in the nifty bamboo three-tiered salt cellar, which I also bought here on Amazon. (See first photo.) I don't fill up the container all the way because I don't want humidity to turn my flakey salt into a crappy block of salt.

I store the unused salt in a zip top bag with a clean, dry paper towel and I seal it after I press out most of the air. The paper towel absorbs any moisture that might be in the bag with the salt. Each time I refill my salt cellar, I replace the paper towel with a new one. (See second photo.)

I've actually found that using Maldon salt cuts down on my sodium intake without even trying. When you sprinkle just a pinch of this on eggs, or a baked potato, or veggies or anything else, you get little bursts of saltiness when you take a bite with a salt-flake on it. It's seriously yummy. Whereas with granulated salt, you have to (over) salt the dish enough to be able to taste the salt. If you used as much Maldon salt as you do regular table salt, you'd not be able to eat whatever you added it to because it would be WAY too salty.

I use Maldon in things like soups and sauces, where it dissolves into the food, as well. You don't get the little flavor bursts that way, of course, but I still think it tends to be saltier than regular table salt. And it's not just that it's saltier. The flavor is much different than regular salt, as well.

This is one of my most favorite ways to use Maldon salt. It's not an every-day breakfast, but one that I make for myself on days when I want to spoil myself a bit:

Shred a (peeled or not...your choice) russet or Yukon gold potato on the coarsest side of a box grader or with the coarse shredding blade of a food processor. Put the shredded potato in a colander or sieve and run it under cold water to remove the excess starch. Set the potato aside to drain for a minute. (Alternatively, you can use frozen hash-brown potatoes.)

While the potato is draining, use a push-pin to make a tiny hole in the fat end of a size large egg. Set the egg aside.

Fill a LARGE pan with water and set it on the stove to heat. (Large enough that, once the water is at a rolling boil it will not cool off to less than a full rolling boil when you've added the egg.

I was first introduced to Malden Sea Salt while visiting a friend in London. I raved about it so much my host gave me a farewell present of two boxes to take home to the US. I hoarded that salt. The rest of the family got to use table salt; I salted my food in the kitchen with the Malden salt.

Alas, eventually I ran out. Eureka! I found it on Amazon! I'm saved, life is good. Now that I can buy more whenever I run out, I'll even share.

Maldon is not easy to find where I live so I LOVE that I can get it on Amazon. This product is clean and delicious and perfect as a "finishing" salt - you don't cook with it. You sprinkle it on - a little goes a long way so don't overdue. The salt crystals are flaky and clean and add a bright finish to salads and vegetables. Mario Batali mentions it on "The View" and in his cookbooks.

Amazon is amazin' for providing us with good things in life at a better price. I used to find Maldon salt only in select stores such as Whole Foods (haven't seen in that store in a while), William Sonoma (overpriced) or Fresh Direct (have to order a bunch to justify delivery). So I was delighted to find Maldon salt on Amazon at a great price.
Maldon salt is fantastic to use as a finishing salt just before you eat. Because of the large crystals, it doesn't melt as rapidly as smaller grained salts and provides a little bit of crunch, which is pleasant. I think this makes a good gift for yourself and for others that like to eat well or cook.

* To Amazon packing dept: Please do not tape them together when you ship as it was impossible to peel the tape off the box as it was intended to be used as a gift.

I love salt. I probably eat way too much of it. So I switched to non iodized maldon salt. THis is the best sea salt I've ever used. I love it so much I carry a portable container of maldon salt to restaurants. Highly recommend. I grab some flakes and crunch them up and sprinkle on my food. Fresh tomatoes with maldon salt. Yum!

I was given this as a Christmas gift 7 years ago, have not gone without having it in my kitchen since. Maldon Sea Salt adds a flavor to your vegetables that takes it to a whole new level. Do yourself a favor and order some, after trying it you will always have Maldon Salt in your kitchen. Just try it, you'll like it.

I find this salt to be quite superior, better than much higher priced and more exotic salts. They are fine for a little talk at the table, but this salt works well everywhere and with distinction. The shape of the crystals is the key here ... do not grind it!!!
