I laughed at her escapades, wanted to smack her when she kept digging that hole and prayed that God would protect her when it all came to a head!
A wonderful story with one of life's greatest lessons......learn to be content in whatsoever state you are in! Well done, Ms. Sherrod!
Berry Jenkins comes up with a plan to create the perfect man, albeit a fake man, to lesson the pressure from the people in her life. Of course, her plan backfires in a big way. This book is filled with laugh out loud moments and moments of complete dread as Berry falls deeper into he disaster she created. The Man of My Schemes
I love Sherrod’s voice in this book. She masterfully uses first person POV and harkens back to the days of excellent chick-lit. The pacing had me turning the pages and I devoured this book in one sitting. Sherrod also builds a great cast of characters to support Berry’s madness. Great read and real Christian fiction.
Sherrod did an excellent of showing the how family and friend make single relatives uncomfortable and pressured to do what they think they should do with their lives. Many lessons can be learned from this story one of which is “listen to your heart”. There were sections in the novel that moved slowly for me while others made me want to jump in the pages and shake some sense in the characters. Book clubs will definitely enjoy this book and have plenty to talk about.
But, there is a message behind the madness, and one many of us, including myself, need to heed. We should never try to be something we're not just to get the acceptance of others. Be the best you that you can be and everything will work out as it should....as God meant for it to be.
