When I hear people say "Christian music stinks..." (and worse) I honestly just can't believe it. The only thing I can think of is it has to be a spiritual thing - a hatred for all things Christian. The reason I say this is the artists on this (and the other 116 projects) aren't good - THEY ARE GREAT!

Seriously, Lecrae, Trip Lee, Andy Mineo (*formerly C-Lite) and SO MANY OTHER GREAT artists... working together? On one CD? Seriously? SERIOUSLY!

The 116 projects are amazing and Man Up is just as good - if not better - than the previously released projects.

Here's the deal - if you are a fan of Christian music - Christian Hip Hop in particular then YOU ARE going to LOVE "Man Up".

HERE'S AN EVEN BETTER IDEA: BUY THIS CD AND GIVE IT AWAY to people not familiar TODAY'S Christian Music and TODAY'S Christian Hip Hop OR STILL EVEN BETTER THAN THAT - GIVE IT AWAY to those that don't YET know the Lord!

Want to get REALLY REAL? Then HERE'S the REAL DEAL: WE ARE LOSING A GENERATION! Here's a statistic for you - 73% of those between the ages of 18 and 29 are now COMPLETELY UNCHURCHED (*Outreach Magazine). If we are going to reach THIS GENERATION then we HAVE TO START speaking to THIS GENERATION with a voice that THIS GENERATION can understand, relate to, and appreciate.

Trust me when I say this...(*and I've been to many of these artists concerts) THEY ARE reaching out to THIS GENERATION with a voice that THIS GENERATION can understand, that they can relate to, and that they can appreciate. They are not only singing/rapping, they ARE PREACHING God's Word to a lost generation! *How many of us are - preaching to this generation with the kind of numbers these guys are drawing in? Ever heard Trip Lee preach? I HAVE!

I don't care for rap or hip hop, but I LOVE this CD. My son purchased it recently and "forced" me to listen to it...and I can't get enough! I think if you are a Christian that is interested in the message, you can't go wrong. I don't think you have to be a young man, a black man or anything like that. My son seriously resembles a redneck and is 17 years old and loves this music. I'm a middle aged white woman, and I love this music. Give it a chance, look the lyrics up online if you have trouble understanding some of them (as I did), and really listen to the messages in these songs.

I'll start with the DVD. As the preview says, it's a short film about Manhood. This is not a spoiler so don't worry. The DVD follows a young black/African-American man during his 1st summer after he graduates high school. He is staying in the 'hood and has to battle the common temptations/pressures that we have to face daily. It does have a low-budget feel to it, but for me the acting by the main character (and even the supporting cast at times) was so intense that after the first couple of minutes I was into the story and didn't even think about the low-budgetness(?) of it. The movie seeks to portray Jesus in a new way than he is typically shown, and also shows young black men can follow God and still be who they are (Without the sin, of course, but you will have to see the movie for yourself to see what I mean :- .

Also, I've watched movies like State Property back in the day and even though that had a low budget feel to it I allowed myself to be subjected to what they portrayed, so I was able to keep an open-mind to this movie and I have to say it's a blessing. One last thing about the movie is that it used real actors/actresses in the movie and didn't fill the cast with everyone on the recording label like other labels (mainly secular) do. I initially watched the movie w/out the reflections and I have to say depending on the audience that is a good idea. I went back and watched the reflections last and they were powerful.

Now the CD. First, let me say that yes, it's only 7 tracks long. The last 116 album I bought was only about 6 tracks long (Amped and it was different to buy an album that short but I wasn't disappointed. Again, this time around I wasn't disappointed.

This CD/DVD Is so Good that after I bought it... Its not in my house anymore.. Its in the hands of my friend and I'm going to let as much people borrow this because To me the Movie does have its Flaws like any other film but for An Amateur Film Its my Favorite of All Time, The Film has a very great message for a 50 minute movie. I've watched it more than 3 times already, the CD is also very Good as well, They put out some quality songs with the Project and I hope our societies Generation starts to Man Up More with this and I hope to have more products like this in the future maybe for the ladies? Either way, I love the stuff that Reach Records is putting out.

Reach records has come out with the best projects in 2011 for CHH and this one is no different. Many men don't know what true manhood is and Reach does a good job of showing us what Biblical manhood look like I do like this project but there's a reason I gave it a 4. First let's start with the songs:

Man Up Anthem (4/5): If there was ever a cypher reach did this would be it. Everyone on hear is rapping like crazy. Though I do feel the beat could have been bassier, CheeseBeats did a nice job with the it and shows how diverse and unique he can be with his production.

Authority (5/5): This talks about how we should submit not only to government officials and the like but also to the Highest Authority (Jesus Christ). Lecrae does a really good job with the hook giving it a high energy type feel. Big Juice did a nice job with the beat. I enjoyed everybody's verses but KB honestly had the best one.

Responsibility (5/5): This track might be my favorite on the whole CD. This is no doubt PRo's best beat he's done for Reach yet. Track talks about taking responsibility and each artist does a great job of explaining the areas they take responsibility in.The hook is definitely catchy and cool how they have 3 people on the hook. I like how Sho Baraka applies the build-up effect to the hook as well. I was a little disappointed he wasn't rapping a verse though.

Envy(4/5): Dirty Rice did a nice job with this beat. Although I'm not completely in love with the sample, it's definitely catchy enough to stay in your head. This is probably the most creative song on the CD due to each artist personifying themselves as envy. What's weird about this song is that each artist's verse after each other is better then the next one.
