Anything written by Dietrich von Hildebrand is worth attention.Philosopher of" the heart", many church insiders say he may be proclamed a first 20th century " Doctor of the Church".Even Pope John Paul II was very much influenced by his thoughts on human love and marriage the way God intended for us .

Fantastically written book discussing the distinctions of love with a particular emphasis on the complementarian nature of male an female love through marriage. Much of what von Hildenbrand wrote reminded me of St Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body. It was a good read and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to come to a better understanding of the Christian love found in a sacramental marriage. It is certainly one that I plan to reread again and again.

What a mind Dietrich von Hildebrand had. His opposition to Nazi German philosophy and Communism is so sound. This book makes it plain what men and women need to know about real love. He addresses the real substance of love. If more people fell in "real" love perhaps our sex driven society would be more peaceful. And the divorce industry less active. It is a deep read but so good.

Uplifting. We need a fresh picture of what love and marriage was meant to be. This older book is that fresh picture.
