Editorial Reviews

2010 album from the Cali collective. Man of the World finds the band flexing their considerable creative powers to craft their finest album yet. Recorded almost entirely live, the 11-song collection is the sound of four players who have truly found their groove together. This is ALO at their most natural, their most organic and their most pure. Man of the World is the next level for ALO. Man of the World was produced by none other than Jack Johnson, a longtime friend and musical collaborator.

I didn't get this album when it was first released and I am sorry that I spent a couple of months without it! As others have said, this *is* different from other ALO recordings, but in a progressively groovy way. Highly recommend.

Also, highly recommend seeing ALO live - I saw them a couple of weeks ago with Jack and they ripped it up. Started right on time, played from all albums and had great crowd interaction. Only problem - they didn't play long enough!

I'm blown away by this one. I haven't heard an album quite like it... yet it sounds somewhat familiar and I'm strangely drawn to it. Where I imagined Jack Johnson's influence as producer to be ostentatious, it's actually sublime. And you can tell they had fun while making it. I'll keep this one in the rotation for a while, for sure!

This is a good third album for the group. I found these guys via the Jack Johnson tour. Great music. A nice combination of Dead type music, Phish and Jack Johnson. Their lyrics and jams are much better than Phish's stuff.

i had very high expectations for this album after roses and clover, which ive had on heavy rotation sinse 2007. well im pleased to say that alo man of the world is a strong/solid follow up, though not as good as there last album it comes very close. expecially with the ultra laid back funk of songs like i love music, and put away the past. there is also a song called champion, which has to be the heaviest song they have ever recorded, and let me tell you, it works. with so much lousy music around nowadays its nice to see we can always rely on alo. i strongly recommend this album, if youre a fan of there previous efforts you will enjoy

I really like a couple of songs on each of their albums, but the rest of them sound kind of the same. Guess that is OK if you like that groove, but I like more variety.

ALO is a favorite band of mine, I own several of their albums.
Roses and Clover is another great album if interested in this band.
