This is a great book. I enjoy seeing all the previous characters show up and add to the story. I kinda struggled with Matt. He is a super nice guy but he has an attitude that peeks out sometimes. I understand the problem he had and how he wanted two things and hoped one wouldn’t impact the other. Hannah really didn’t do much for me. I thought she was just “there”. Nothing spectacular. At times she seemed very harsh on her reactions to Matt. I know these are twenty somethings and they are highly emotional about things.
Now I did enjoy quite a few different scenes between the characters. The modeling scene...I just knew just what was going to happen. But I thoroughly enjoyed one character's response! Chris and Megan...well Megan was a great supporting character during this book.
One of the things I enjoy about these books are the males point of view. Just now Matt is banging his head against the wall because he thought he stood staring at Hannah “like a moron” with no words spoken from either. He is sayin “Smooth Matt” in his head. That brings a smile to my face knowing that woman aren’t the only ones nervous about the opposite sex.
This is not my first book by this author. I enjoy her writing style. It’s very engaging and keeps me interested so I will continue to enjoy this series.
As with the previous two books in this series, I was super excited to get started. But after reading the blurb to Managed Hearts, something just made me even more desperate to jump in. I think it’s because I’m a sucker for the whole ‘second chance’ / ‘summer love’ type stories, which means this book was essentially written for me. I am a huge fan of this author’s writing style so before I knew it, I was already halfway through the book. And if you’ve gone that far in one sitting, you might as well go all the way!
The characters in this instalment also grabbed me in a way the others hadn’t. Hannah sounds like someone I not only want to be, but also want to be my best friend. The relationship with her own best friend, Elena, was so much fun to read and I really did find myself wanting to be part of their gang. Hannah is a relatable, believable character who is a hopeless romantic, longing for the type of relationship she’d experienced so briefly during her crazy summer with Matt. There were times when I felt so sorry for her and just wanted to give her a hug and others when I wanted to shake some sense into her! As for Matt, what a dream! Yes, he has his flaws and I will be the first to admit he made some pretty stupid moves along the course of the story. But that does make me love him any less! Deep down, he is such a good guy and I was longing for him to pull himself together and fight for Hannah. As to whether he actually does or not, you’ll have to read to find out! But be prepared to get obsessed, addicted and very very invested!
Just like the first two books in this series, Managed Hearts also has some real heart-wrenching scenes as it deals with some very emotional issues. Make sure you have the time to fully throw yourself into this read; you’ll need it! I can’t wait to see who we get to follow in the next book in this series. Thanks for another great read!
