Editorial Reviews

Review

This is an important book because it illustrates the importance of the roles that the Business Analyst (BA)plays in project definition; Barbara also discusses the skills that are required.  When HR advertises for a Project Manager (PM) they are very specific about the skill sets and experience that is required, but this is virtually never done for the BA.  This has to change.  The BA is every bit as responsible for the success of a project as the PM.

- Jon R. Herbold; MA, PMP, MCTS

"This book provides a hard hitting look at the current problems with business analysis with a revolutionary approach to solving them. The years of practical experience behind the perspective comes shining through, and is an absolute must read for leaders playing a strategic role in business analysis.
If you're looking to understand how you can better your business analysis effectiveness and capability at an enterprise level, you cannot afford to give this a miss."
-Remzil Kulkarni, Head - Business Analysis Center of Excellence, Mastek Ltd.

"This is a great book. It is actually making sense to me."
-Julen C. Mohanty

From the Author

Throughout my career, I have brought a passion into business analysis. This book serves as the culmination of my passion, knowledge, and diverse experiences in business analysis. It is my hope that, through this knowledge, others will no longer have to struggle, and that companies will see a way to end a large part of the waste and frustration that is associated with information technology.  Above all else, I am hopeful for a realization that we can utilize technology as a means of establishing a truly global society.
I am convinced that we could have technologies far beyond the current means if we simply changed the way in which business analysis is performed. In order for that to happen, the real value of business analysis must be understood as its ability to translate goals and strategies into reality through the generation of tangible solutions.
--Barbara Davis

5.0 out of 5 stars BA simplified for layman to techies
By RD on November 27, 2012
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist I talk to lots of BA & PM and other technical people and sometime select and recommend BA's by gut feel.. but if i wanted to Define & put the gut feel on paper, its not easy and sometime i am at loss of words.. but it cant be put in better words than what the author (BARBARA) has done.
So if you are a Business Manager/Technology Manager, recruiter or a BA or PM yourself or even a technology director trying to set up a BA practice or any one who want to understand the BA as a process or as a system then this book is for you. I recently got the chance to pick this book and read it. The best part of the book is the language, it is simple & fluid and can be easily understood by everyone and derives heavily from real life scenarios faced in the business world.. i will recommend this book to all the aspiring BA's too..

Suggestion to the publisher - get a electronic version out quickly.. it will surely be a big hit.
