1. I have mounted a Kirk Arca Swiss compatible clamp to it, which fits and works fine. I oriented the clamp so its knob is opposite the knob for controlling tension of the head, so that there would be no accidents from twisting the wrong knob.
2. Larger lenses like my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L and 100-400mm L are mounted to the monopod head with a foot that runs parallel to the axis of the lens, but when I mount my camera with a smaller lens, the foot runs side to side since its mounted to the camera.
This means that the plate must be loosened and rotated 90 degrees when changing. You cannot just rotate the monopod because the head tilts just one way. A conventional ball head would not have this issue -- Something for a buyer to consider.
3. The smoothness of the tilt leaves something to be desired, Its difficult to set the tension so that the tilt is smooth without making it too loose. Again, its not a big deal, but all these things add up.
The new version 234RC has an integrated quick-plate-receiver that's fixed in one position.
This means that you may only be able roll the camera side-to-side, but not tilt up & down.
With this version you mount your own receiver whichever direction yo want. Much better.
Don't get the 234RC, get this one instead and just mount your own receiver-plate.
I attach the QR plate for the Neewer Aluminium 50mm Quick Release Plate QR Clamp 3/8-inch with 1/4-inch Adapter and Built-in Bubble Level for Benro Acratech Kirk Wimberley Gitzo Manfrotto RRS Arca Swiss and Other Arca-Style Quick Release Plate to the mounting ring on the lens to center the weight more over the monopod, but it is still too much weight for the head. Yes, I realize this is a large amount of weight to ask of this small head. I am going to try blue Loc-Tite on the monopod screw and the Swiss clamp. I cannot use anything on the swivel since that defeats the purpose of the head.
Thank you for reading my review.
It is just about impossible to find this model (without the Manfrotto RC). When you see one at a good price, buy it. I attach an arca-swiss clamp to the 234, and I am "in business." I have tried other solutions to the problem of what to use on a monopod. I think this is the absolute BEST way to attach a camera to a monopod.
This product feels a bit heavy, but solidly constructed. There are two different sized threads available and relatively easy to access by simply unscrewing the knob off.
My only complaint for this is the somewhat cheap packaging that it came in. It was a simple cardboard backing with the plastic bubble connected with staples. However, I'm buying the product and not the packaging so no big deal.
Bottom line: well constructed, simple to use. I can confirm it fits an Induro carbon fiber monopod and Sunwayfoto plate.

It is very quick and easy to mount and dismount. Perhaps 4 seconds! Excellent for a MACRO of something on the ground and for quickly converting to Portrait View. There is no 90 degree click stop, but it doesn't really matter on a Monopod, since angling and framing on a Monopod is done by eye - in the flash of an eye!
If like me you take more portrait format photos than Macros then mount it with the knob facing directly towards you. Then you will only ever need to loosen the nut to swivel the camera when you do a Macro (still very easy and quick).
The captive nut design for the mounting screw is both utterly simple, ingenious, sensible and shouldn't ever break. It will switch for the bigger thread if you need it by dismantling the Head and then reassembling. I don't need to do this but if you do then it should be easy since the Design is all so simple and obvious. It also has both threads at the base.
I expect this to outlast my Monopod - a Gyotos - and to outlive a nuclear holocaust!
Enter this tilt head. It is quite a lump of metal that whilst quite heavy gives you confidence that it is up to the job.
I use it with a lightweight monopod and this almost doubles the total weight, but I am happy to carry it for the ease that it gives in changing the tilt angle of the camera.
It will tilt to 90 degrees either side of vertical (and everything between) by after simply loosening the good sized knob.
When I mount the camera I have the knob facing away from me (forward) so that it does not get in the way when I am looking through the view finder and I can easily switch from landscape to portrait.
So here saying get one twice if you have the same need as I did in tilting your camera from the landscape position and if you are in need of a little extra height on your monopod.
Straconsigliata per l'uso su Monopiede in quanto non avendo la testa sferica può essere orientato in un unica direzione
