If the Super Clamp is one of our most popular best sellers, we are confident that this even more versatile product will hit the market and steal the scene to its big brother. Its reduced size is most important feature, plus the Nano Clamp is 4 kg of payload in 110 grams of weight and the right size for any pocket. The Nano Clamp is also packed full of new technological advances including a new patented unexposed thread system, high friction tape which improves the grip, high performance aluminum and a pull and lock aluminum handle. Moreover, the flexibility given by the two 3/8 and 1/4 attachments makes the Nano Clamp practically compatible with any lighting accessory in the market, setting the fantasy of the user as only limit for it.

The Nano Clamp is the Superclamps portable little brother - it weighs only 0.25 LB's (compared to about 1LB on the superclamp). The Nano Clamp is also MUCH smaller - easy to throw in a bag, or even pocket. In fact, you can throw a few in your pocket without issues - something not possible with even a single superclamp!
The nano clamp is made out of Aluminum (same as Superclamp) but feels much weaker - the superclamp seems like something you can throw around without hurting it a bit, the Nano clamp seems abit more fragile (partly due to it's small size) - reading other reviews, you'll also see it can easily snap if tightened too much.
It's a pretty simple product - basically 2 clamping sides and a knob. Tighten the knob to close, loosen to open the clamp. The rounded edges on the inside have a bit of a coating to better grip stuff like a pole or lightstand, there are also some "teeth" at the very back which are designed to make it easier to clamp onto flat objects (the Superclamp comes with a rubber insert to grab onto flat objects - this one doesn't, and the 'teeth' don't work so great).
Due to the smaller size, the opening is much smaller than the superclamp - I can grip to a lightstand, but not some of the larger objects (poles) that the Superclamp could grip onto.
At the back of the it are 2 female inserts - 3/8" and 1/4" -- the Nano Clamp includes no studs, you need to buy them yourself (most objects you'd connect to this will have a female threading (a camera, a flash, etc..) so you need a male-to-male adapter for those. I highly recommend the Manfrotto 037 Reversible Short Stud - Replaces 2907 - it's cheap, small and has both 3/8" and 1/4" threading (so if you need a 3/8" male, plug the 1/4" end into the 1/4" female end of the superclamp.. or vice versa).
It's a bit disappointing that Superclamp studs/accessories do not work on this, but the above adapter will solve most issues.
My other issue with this is the price - at 30 bucks for the clamp alone, its more than a Superclamp (and the Superclamp does so much more). Much like the Manfrotto 5001B 74-Inch Nano Stand Replaces Manfrotto 001B (Black) you're paying a premium for the lightweight/compact size.
At half the price, I'd buy half a dozen of these, but at close to 40 bucks a piece (with adapter) it's hard to do that.
One other note - the Nano Clamp includes a ratcheting lever. This means that once you lock it into place, you can "pull out" the lever and twist it around (without tightening/loosening the product) to move it to another position (great for storage as the lever can get in the way and take up un-needed space)
It works like a dream! I searched high and low for something smaller than the Super Clamp, that was well made and would still fit around the leg or support column of my Manfrotto Monopod or Tripod support column. After reading some reviews on some other similar items, I landed on this one. Yeah, it costs a little bit more, but its well made. Best of all, its ALL METAL!!
Into the 1/4" thread, I have an ikan ELE-CS all metal cold shoe adapter, which I have my ball-joint mount for my ikan VL5 HDMI field monitor. I mount this directly to the leg of either my Manfrotto mono-pod or tripod, depending on what I am shooting on that night. This allows me to mount the monitor down where I can see it, as opposed to way up over my head where the little LCD is attached to the camera (which is normally up over my head by a foot or so.) Being able to relocate my monitor down where I need it, helps me dramatically, especially given that I wear progressive tri-focals.
First and for most I own and have used these clamps for years so I can tell a knockoff as soon as I see it. I will list differences between the real part and the clamps I recieved today from amazon.
1. The silkscreened branding on the amazon part is blurry and the wrong size.
2. The threaded holes are not the correct size. They are slightly to large and allows for play back and forth.
3. The handle is not aluminum like in the original parts from Manfrotto. These a poorly designed weak plastic. If this is what C.J. Cameron received in his order (The other reviewer that ordered this fake item) that explains why this have broken on him on the first day.
I am planning on returning these right away and also contacting the US distributer for Manfrotto equipment.
Again, these clamps won't work because they are fake knockoffs!
The real Manfrotto clamps are well designed and have excellent craftsmanship. I have had Nano clamps for years and I have not broken a single one.
The Nano Clamp is only limited by it's capacity (maximum radius) for attaching to larger items, but generally will work in most environments.
I use this clamp frequently: attaches to tree branches, light stands, conduit, railings, etc.
I have multiple camera bags/setups, and this clamp is in everyone of them.
It is pricey, but you will never have to buy it again. The build quality is supreme, and takes a beating (for you travel photographers).
