Pfffft.....should have known better. This thing is exactly what I wanted and it is exactly as described by Manfrotto.
LIGHT...I mean like 2 pounds.
Well built...the thick walled aluminum tubing is almost twice the OD of the cheaper tripods I used to use for hiking.
Simple....open the legs, plop it down, and shoot. Nothing else...no special features.
Simple...if you want more than just a light tripod this had no other features.
Height....kind of short. You WILL have to bend over if you are over 5'5" or so.
I'm going to put the attached ball head as a good/bad kind of feature. I absolutely love it's simplicity. One knob and one screw. Slap on your camera and lock it down. I would NOT say this is a 'fluid head' kind of ball head. You can slightly loosen the tightening knob and move the head but smooth, level panning will depend on your on skill.
Ok...let's address the biggest complaint about this tripod. How big a camera will it support? I have a Oly M5 II with the 14-150 Mk II lens....which probably weighs less than the battery grip on my old 5D and it is fine. If you put the 5D with a 50mm on it...again no problem. However the 5D and a midsize "L" lens is really pushing the limit. It's a backpack/hiking/lightweight tripod. I can't see trying to find the lightest one Manfrotto makes (this one) and then dropping an 8 pound full size dSLR that you've lugged around on it.....that's...nutty?
If you want a very light and somewhat light duty tripod this is excellent. The quality is well worth the $65 I paid for it considering a lot of crappy cheap ones are in the $30-$40 range.
Oh...and it comes with a nice padded bag and an adapter for cameras with an uneven bottom (??).
It comes with a carry bag which is nice. It's not just thin nylon it has adequate thickness and padding but it has a drawstring. It would have been cool if it had a zipper and a shoulder strap. Not sure how much money they saved there. Overall happy with it but the way people talk about manfrotto as high quality im not seeing it here. Sure they have higher quality more expensive tripods but i didnt expect them to skimp on this one. Dont get me wrong this is worth the money just expected better. The legs easily collapse almost too easy. Locking buckles work good the switch knob feels like it will snap off. We'll see how the whole thing holds up after some use.
Not had a problem and has held up. I've purchased cheaper Tripods from Amazon and they broke after a few uses.
Usually it's the cheap plastic camera screw on mounts that brake first rendering them useless.
Because of their camera screw on mounts (button style) I've not had a problem.
I even bought more for all my other camera's so I don't have to keep switching the mounts over.
Yes they are a little expensive but well worth it in my humble opinion.
A trick I've used on some devices that have excessive play between the screw button mount and stand head just use a metal washer or two as a spacer so you can tighten it up.
This tripod is a nice middle ground tripod that is a HUGE bang for the buck. Sturdy, smooth, doesn't wiggle or rattle, and is nicely customizeable for what you're needing to use it for. Great for video or still photos.

You get the build quality of one of the best makers, with the lower price to suit the budget: I'd recommend this tripod to anyone who is after a good yet affordable tool, "Does what it says on the tin" plus more!
Easy telescoping and since it is Manfrotto I expect the clips to last. If not, I will update the review.
Highly recommend purchasing the quick release adapter as an addon. It's not required but I like the ability to just clip the camera on and off the tripod quickly instead of using a screw fastening system.
If I had read the reviews before purchasing I would have bought a different tripod. It's a little too lightweight for my current needs but I really like it so I am keeping it. I am sure I will use it when we travel.
