The usefulness of this device will obviously be limited. The Manfrotto MP3-D01 is more capable, but that model is bulkier. The slim, trim MP1-C01 could be left on the compact camera with little bulk, although, like the bigger model, it will block the battery compartment. It can fit in the accessory pocket of the Lowepro Rezo 50, which the MP3-D01 can't. The MP1-C01 is a little longer than the older Manfrotto Modopocket, and that is probably its closest competitor. The MP1-C01 has a wider base than the Manfrotto Modopocket. The Modopocket's 4-point contact is more dependent on a perfectly flat, level surface. However, the MP1-C01's 3-point contact is more tedious to adjust, even on the perfectly flat surface. Either the Modopocket or the MP1-C01 could be left on the camera, and the longer, slimmer MP1-C01 will seem a little less bulky. Some (but not many) cameras like the Panasonic LX5 will have access to the battery compartment with the Modopocket, but not with the MP1-C01.
A significant annoyance of the MP1-C01 is that if not attached to the camera, the mounting screw is vulnerable to falling out in transport. The lateral adjustability of the screw's position, an advantage in some ways, means that folding the rear leg over it will not secure it, because the screw can slide to a position in which it is not covered.

I got the MP1-C01 Pocket Tripod for use with my Pentax Q - the smallest interchangeable lens camera in the world. So, I wanted something that kept its size down because that is one of the big advantages of the Q - it's tiny. Folks on the Pentax Forums mentioned the MP1-C01 and gave it a thumbs up so I thought I'd give it a try. Wow, its a genuine Manfrotto and it shows. Tight tolerances, solid construction, works as described and comes with that little extra that we have come to expect from Manfrotto. It comes with a storage bag with closure, no big deal, but it also shipped with a back-up screw to mount it to the camera in case the one in the tripod is lost. Excellent. The feet are stiff, and need to be to maintain position, but easily moved at the same time giving the tripod good functionality while making it stable. One use I haven't seen mentioned is pointing the camera upward at a decent angle so that you can take self/group portraits more easily. Each of the 3 legs is positioned independently allowing for compensation for variation in terrain and changing the angle of the camera in relation to the surface you are using. Finally, unlike some reviewers I don't have any worries about the attachment on the bottom of the camera getting the way of the battery door because both the battery and SD card doors are on the sides of the Q!

We've used the heck out of this little tripod or quadrapod as is the case. We were using a gorilla pod and enjoyed it as well, but had trouble putting the camera and tripod in a pocket during hikes. This MP1-C01 grabs hold of several objects and adjusts easily to ensure pictures are uniform and not at some wierd angle; plus it folds to keep the camera near the saze size.

Everyone has had to prop up a camera on a fencepost, railing, or some other hard surface when trying to take a group photo with a timer at one point or another. This little guy makes it easy to get just the right angle without damaging or scratching the bottom of your camera.

You can easily flip out the legs, set your camera down, and adjust the angle. When you're finished, the legs flip up and you hardly notice it's there. This is a very sturdy and lightweight solution for anyone with a small camera with a standard tripod mount.

The screw does slide a bit to the side if you need to adjust it so the camera is centered properly, so that's nice. I own this size as well as the next size up for my Sony NEX-5N, which also works great!

This thing is really cool. For a small camera, the unique design is way more functional than any other mini-tripod I have seen. It also appears to be more durable than other types of mini-tripods. I'm not a fan of the hanging key for the mount screw. I removed it and replaced the screw with a D-ring screw that I can remove or install with my fingers.

Awesome! Great, handy little device I leave on my Canon G16. Some reviewers say you have to take it off to get at battery & memory card. Not true! Just loosen the attachment screw & slide it back while leaving it on. Really handy that tool for that comes attached instead of having to pull out a coin.

This is a great little tripod for when you dont want to carry a seperate tripod. It is very small and adds only a few MM to the bottom of your camera. The only bad thing is that you have to remove it to access your battery/memory card when you need to change those out. Construction is all metal with black paint with the exception of rubber coating on the feet (Feet cores are metal however). If you get lazy and spin the tripod in order to access your battery/memory card then be careful not to shear the rubber pads off like I did.

Great little thing. I am very impressed with this well made product. It is made of rubber coated metal that helps to prevent it from slipping out of position once attached to the bothom of a camera. Tiny screw driver is attached to the base to help with the mounting screw. Base has very long channel that allows to mount it to just about any small camera regardless of where the tripod socket is located. It can be left in place and after folding its three little feet you will not even that it is there. Very clever and very well made.
Highly recommend It.
