DON'T BUY FROM 3rd PARTY SELLERS.

this is about the Manfrotto Pixi Black Mini Tripod. I bought mine around the end of July, but was never able to use it until last week. the tripod ball joint was so loose it couldn't even hold the iPhone 7 in place. it kept tilting, like there's no grip at all.

since it's been over a 30 days now from the day I got tripod, I didn't bother to contact Amazon about a replacement. I sent an e-mail to Manfrotto (Vitec Imaging I believe is the authorized distributor of Manfrotto in US). I told Vitec that I bought the defective tripod from Amazon and looking to get a replacement. Vitec Customer Support asked for the proof of purchase and so I sent him the copy of invoice from Amazon. And his response was the one pictured attached.

I was totally surprised they would refuse to honor the warranty just because some "dude" sold this to me on Amazon. It's not like I bought this from some dude on the street. I bought this on Amazon from a 3rd Party Seller. If only I knew Manfrotto has a crappy warranty policy, I shouldn't have bought it from this dude unless his an authorized dealer. Their policy is a complete utter BS.

So I contacted Amazon if they can do anything to help me with this issue. And they took it back, but since it was from a 3rd Party Seller, and it's been over 30 days, I can only get a partial refund. Wow. That was unbelievable.

LESSON LEARNED. NEVER BUY FROM 3RD PARTY SELLERS EVER AGAIN. either if it's a Manfrotto product or not just to be safe. Saves you from all the headaches.

Very Disappointing. Received a faulty one.

I was very excited to try this tripod. Once I opened it, the quality was amazing. It wasn’t the cheap type. But I am however disappointed that I received a faulty one. The lock holding the socket isn’t holding it’s full strength so it could barely even hold up my camera without tilting down. My camera isn’t that heavy or big as well. I was really hoping to use it for my DSLR, but that looks like it isn’t happening.

Initially, I was a little taken back by how wide the feet open - and how little room for adjustment they had. They're either wide open, or EVEN WIDER - and take up a lot more space than you'd expect on a table. But, I could live with that. I would have given it a 3 rating - it's ok, but eh.

Now, 14 days after Amazon's return window, the retaining ring that holds the threading appears to have snapped, and the thread won't lock into the tripod plate - and I'm not prepared to risk putting a camera on it.

Next step, contact the manufacturer.

Manfrotto opened a ticket, asked for my proof of purchase, then ... zip. Nothing. I've chased them, but no reply.

The Ballhead On the One I Received DId Not Work At All

Wow, what an unlucky customer I must be. I bought this and was really looking forward to using it. The legs seemed pretty sturdy. The ballhead, however, wouldn't lock and it would not hold my camera in any position other than slumped over to one side. YouTube videos show this product holding much larger DSLRs with larger lenses very solidly. I just use a small DSLR (Nikon D5500) with just kit lenses. What a piece of junk this thing was. Super disappointed. Returned immediately. Good luck to you if you buy one!

Major design flaws, do not buy this tripod.

I'm really surprised, I thought if this was made by Manfrotto it would be a no brainer, this tripod would work, but it doesn't. There is a major design flaw in the tripod. First, I had a small light (approx. 1 pound) on the tripod, but the tripod fell over. That wasn't even using the tripod in full on portrait mode. The legs are so slippery, it won't stay in one position, they just slide down, down, down. So it either falls over, or it slips down. The bottom of the legs need to have some kind of non-slip material on them, and there needs to be a mechanism that allows you to "lock" the legs in place at various positions. This Evo 2 only has 2 positions where the legs can lock in place, if those 2 don't work for you, the legs will slide down (hence lowering the tripod).

Excellent Sturdy Portable Countertop Tripod

Let me start but mentioning that there is another newer version of this tripod called the Pixi Mini Evo that cost twice as much but offers a lot of other features. The Pixi Mini Evo is a bit larger, has a twist screw compression for the ball head, a cut out for the camera to do portrait mode or face completely up or down, extending legs that also fold out flatter for far more versatility and standing options. This tripod, has a spring loaded button compression for the ball head, is much smaller than the Pixi Mini Evo, the legs do no extend and only fold out to one position, and to connect this to your camera you have to twist the tripod on.

Although this tripod doesn't offer as much as the Pixi Mini Evo, it does offer fantastic portability, simplicity, and rock solid functionality. I have been on the fence on whether or not to buy this tripod until I saw one in an Apple Store and got to try it out a bit. The ball head adjustment button was surprisingly easy and sturdier than you could imagine it would be. It feels light weight but solid at the same time and it is just easy to carry around.

I'm using this with a Sony A6300 and have used the PZ Sony G 18-105, Sony Zeiss 24, and the Canon 85 1.8 with the MC-11 lenses. I have to say I doubted the 2.2lb estimate and didn't think it would keep the A6300 sturdy with the reasonably large and heavy 18-105 but it did with flying colors. Once I release the button, the camera stops moving and is perfectly steady. It is really amazing how such a simple system can be so reliably sturdy. Of course using it with the other much lighter lenses works just fine as well and when I have my camera on the tripod I don't worry about it falling over as the legs are sturdy enough to keep it from tilting over.

It also apparently works as a short seflie stick but that wasn't really my intent with it. I don't use camera grips and I didn't buy the A6300 for a selfie camera but it is nice that it can be used in this way.

You can buy the Pixi Mini Evo for around $50 and I'm sure it is great, but I got this because I want something small that I can carry around effortlessly that works quickly and simply. Manfrotto didn't cut corners on this and it shows in quality materials and intelligent design elements. It is easy to carry in your bag or even your pocket and it is even easier to use when you need it. At $25 this tripod is easy to recommend and I will update my review should I find any more positives or faults with this.

Also, I wanted to note that although I did test this tripod with the A6300 and 18-105, the pictures I posted are with the Zeiss 24 1.8.

piedi rigidi e un marchio importante, mi aspettavo molto di più.
Il meccanismo di sblocco della sfera per quanto possa essere comodo non da la possibilità di irrigidirla (una vite stringente sarebbe stata molto più utile). Il risultato è che può mantenere un telefono, una gopro o una piccola digitale. Ho provato con una nikon 5300 + tamron 18-200, peso totale 950g (la portata dichiarata è di 1kg).. si mantiene solo se si punta verso l'alto. Se si punta in orizzontale cade, figuriamoci ad usarlo come impugnatura. Ora ammetto che l'obiettivo è grande, ma per quanto è debole il fissaggio anche con macchine fotografiche più leggere non sarà rigido, con un soffio di vento la fotocamera molleggerà, e se utilizzata come impugnatura non sarà così tanto affidabile. Un vero peccato perchè i piedini sono fatti veramente bene.
Spedizione con poste italiane.. che come al solito al giorno della consegna dichiarano che non ero in casa per poi portarlo l'indomani.

First off, the operative word is ‘little’. This is a small, light, and insubstantial bit of kit. Especially by the standards of other offerings from Manfrotto. No mounting plate, just a screw for a standard bush, quite simple spring loaded push button for the level. It should never be able to hold a full sized DSLR. However, in the same fashion that a bee flies when it shouldn’t, it just works. And works well. It has limitations. Avoid long lenses at full extension. That sort of thing. But you can stick it in the odd corner of a gadget bag, or a pocket, and wander unencumbered until you need a longer shutter speed. You can fold up the legs and use it as a handle, but to be honest I’ve tried this and it seems a bit false, like an added feature that only exists in an advertising man’s head. In it’s own little niche this is an excellent tripod. The type of thing you might take on a flight in your carry on, in a bike pannier or something similar. I like it.

A really handy tripod that's easy to transport

I've had a few mini tripods over the years that you can wrap around lamp posts or place on walls for selfie/family shots or just to get rid of that shakey hand issue when filming. They've not really performed that well. This Manfrotto mini tripod is different because the legs are solid and tiny grips on the ends seem to like to be anywhere that's not wet. It also doesn't suffer from having my DSLR mounted on it. With other mini tripods they would just slump when I put a heavy camera on them.

I can just twist this tripod onto my camera, press down the button (in red here) to move the mount and find what I want. Then it's good to go. The only slight complaint I have is that when you've released the button the camera will then push it down a little more. To compensate that I just set it that little bit higher. After all it's a heavy camera.

Fits in my camera/drone bag without taking up too much space. Handy to take anywhere with you. Overall I'm very impressed for something at this price point.

Having just purchased a new Olympus OM-D EM10 MkII I wanted a small and light tripod to take with me on walks that would complement this camera without carrying excess bulk. Having looked around for a while I decided this one, the Pixi Mini (not the Evo as that is bigger), would best suit my needs. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but when it arrived and I took it out of the packing I was very impressed with the quality of materials used and the build. It's small but feels very substantial and robust in the hand. I set up my camera on it with the normal lens attached and it is rock steady with nice grippy feet. The ball joint is quite stiff but I was able to use the in camera "spirit" level displayed on the screen to get it absolutely level without a problem and it stayed that way through quiet a few shots with the ball joint never moving. I then decided to give it a challenge. I had purchased an adapter for my Olympus so that I could use some 30 year old SLR lenses and so I put the adapter on the camera, followed by a 2x tele-convertor I had and then followed by the 70-210 zoom lens. This is quite a weight to handle and take shots with and nearly impossible to get a shot without blurring and so a tripod is essential. I set the camera/lens combination on the tripod and to my surprise despite the length and weight of the combined lenses it managed all of this just fine. I then set the lens to maximum zoom and set the camera shutter to silent and a small delay (to prevent and camera movement) and pressed the shutter and waited for it to take the photo. The image was superb and crisp with no blur. Quite an achievement for something this compact with all that weight out the front. I am now looking forward to trying this out on my walks.
