Top customer reviews
Another reviewer mentioned that the attachment doesn't fit a standard tripod mount and they failed to realize that this head comes with an adaptor installed for 3/8" mount but it screws off simply to reveal a standard 1/4" mount.
Review update - The 2015 edition of the tripod in this kit has a 3/8" camera attachment stud, while most cameras have an 1/4" threaded hole for tripod installation. Fortunately, Manfrotto offers a 1/4" camera - to - 3/8" tripod adapter of $27, which solves the problem.
Still, I cannot understand Manfrotto's idea to make this tripod with a 3/8" stud, when most cameras have 1/4 hole for attaching tripods! This design choice not only adds $27 to buyer's spending, but also unnecessarily increases the weight of the photo equipment to carry around... Also, it increases the height, thus diminishing the stability of the camera+tripod assembly.
My 4-star rating is the average between a 5-star for the old, 1/4" tripod, and a 3-star for the new, 3/8" one.
