What readers are saying about MANGROVES AND MONSTERS:
Mangroves and Monsters... WOW. A fabulous addition to the story!! I love, love, love the twists. The feeling like I should be somewhere too hot and humid for my comfort. I found the Caribbean to be quite lovely from my couch. There is so much more to put into a review, but I dare not giveaway *any* of the story! ~ Jody, Goodreads.com
A good, fun read! ~ Carrie, Goodreads.com
A new plot twist on every page. ~ Ann Crutchfield, Florida USA
If you love a good romance and good mystery, you get it all right here. ~ Wendy Hill, North Carolina USA
Mangroves and Monsters is a finely wrought mystery. The characters are well defined, each having their own vested interest in the events being played out. The tension keeps you on edge as it steadily builds toward a dramatic confrontation. The conclusion has an unexpected twist that I didn't see coming but felt was the perfect end to an exceptional mystery. ~ Ivy D, Reviewer, Manic Readers
From the Author
One of my earliest fiction heroines was Nancy Drew. I couldn't get enough of her. Nancy was self-confident and clever and always, ALWAYS eyeball deep in trouble. Oddly, she was the direct opposite of me. Hoodoo Money is the kind of romantic suspense novel I loved to read then, and still do. Hopefully, I've succeeded in filling its pages with enough mystery to spark the imagination and ample romance to stir the heart. With a dose of sizzle thrown in for good measure.

William Voorhees, an old arch nemesis has Charlie in his sights. He wants to destroy Charlie. One way he can really get to Charlie is by killing everyone he loves. If Charlie isn't careful, he could find himself buried in the sand.
Mangroves and Monsters is the second book by Mrs. Cupp Pennington. Her first novel was Hoodoo Money. This book moved a little slow for me at first but luckily the story picked up quickly. I found Charlie to be a likable guy. I didn't really feel the connection between him and Angeline. She seemed a little standoffish to me at first. This is why I couldn't see what Charlie saw in Angeline. The location for this story was the best. Mrs. Cupp Pennington picks just the right setting for her stories to help set the mood. Like they say...location is everything. I thought it was kind of funny that the enemy shares the same last name as another famous character. Only this Voorhees doesn't wear a hockey mask or carry a machete. This Voorhees though is just as ruthless. Author, Sharon Cupp Pennington can spin a good tale.
The story takes place on the Caribbean island of Jacqueme Dominique. It is a mystery type of book, it has a bit of romance, and of course a murder. I did blush while reading certain parts but it was not inappropriate for the scene.
The main Characters of the story are Charlie Cooper (also called Coop), Angeline St. Cyr, Brent St. Cyr, and Kat.
I could not pick just one favorite character as all the characters in the book were well developed and I came to care for all the characters.
After the first book the second was easier to understand what the writer was doing. I liked how it wasn’t just told from one point of view and you got to see in side all the main characters. I was not able to home in on who the bad person (I’m not saying who it is) was and only figured it out as the main characters did. Although I will say my gut was screaming at me something was not right with a couple of the characters. Also Willem Voorhees does make an appearance.
I felt every emotion that the characters felt. Even though I have never lost a child or someone I loved I was able to understand a little of what they were going through, I could feel everything the characters were feeling and it was very refreshing. I did cry and laugh and want to shot someone, so the author did a great job of pulling you into the book. This book was a page turner and once I got started I had a very hard time putting the book down.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series as this one left me wanting more.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries, romance, or someone who just want a good read!
