Others here have commented on the page turning plot twists. (Go read the book for yourself to learn what they are, I'm not going to spoil the surprises!) I can safely share that my favorite part of the narrative are Jed's sardonic observations of New York/New Yorkers. If you were in New York in the 90's you'll recall the restaurants (some now regrettably closed) and reminisce about life in the city just at the dawn of the internet age. No Google. No Facebook. No Kindles. No cellphones. No texts. It made me miss the days when people smoked cigarettes when they drank booze and one actually needed go to the newsstand at the subway stop and buy a newspaper to find out what was going on.
All in all, good stuff. Tightly written and deftly crafted. Aptly titled as the city itself is omnipresent, unforgiving and survives. I loved it. Looking for more by this author.
