I haven’t read any of the books in this series. But I immediately purchased the previous books in the series. I found that author Avery Aster does amazing things with words.
She brings to the table a book that is based around the holiday season but most of it takes place prior to the holiday. Sheldon, wants to give his son everything in his power. To help him overcome his challenges and make the world an easier place to navigate. His son’s mother is a manipulate person and uses the kid. Sheldon has changed his partying ways, and take’s his role of father seriously. When baby mama threaten to take his son away Sheldon does will do anything keep him. When a friend approaches him to help with his money situation he at first says no, but then realizes this may be the only way to provide his son a stable life. Will he get more than he can chew?
Neve is a top actress. But her 15 minutes of fame is running out. Desperate to keep herself in the spotlight her PR firm comes up with a reality show. She has to be married to even be on the show. Enter Sheldon, the one person is who is up front and honest with Neve. She has a connection to him that is unrecognizable to her, but she knows that it is something good. Will she be able to walk away at the end of the series or will she be broken?
I found that this series had twists and turns that I didn’t expect. They supporting characters are amazing, manipulative people that you will love or hate. The main characters have a great depth and the reader will find themselves easily invested in their story. I found myself yelling at the book, and mad for the main characters. The things that people did to them was out of left field, although I think that maybe this really does happen in Hollywood.
A Manhattanite’s Christmas is a well written, fast paced read, that will keep the reader entertained.
This time we meet Warner Truman's younger brother Sheldon. And even though there may be some similarities between the two brothers, there are also some big differences. Unlike his super rich brother, Sheldon is a blue collar plane mechanic who likes to live by his means and not ask for help from anyone, especially from his brother. But his carefree, playboy life takes an unexpected turn when he finds out that he has a son, an autistic son who he now has to take care of because his mother has been sent to jail. And even though he is doing the best that he can and trying to answer all of Liam's needs- emotionally, physically and financially - he finds himself in a bind when he finds out that he is losing his job. So when an offer to marry a sexy pop princess/reality star in order to enter a new reality show is offered to him, he finds himself reluctantly excepting. He doesn't believe in love and commitment anyway, so why not make a huge amount of money in a short amount of time?
Neve Adele is an it girl. A pop princess who owes her fame to reality shows, she is told by her PR firm that she needs to do something in order to put her name out there again. What better opportunity than to star in an upcoming reality show about newly weds. The only problem is that she isn't married or engaged. In fact, she isn't even in a serious relationship. But when she sees Sheldon Truman she knows that he is the one she wants with her. The only problem is getting him to agree. And when he finally does, they find that they are able to easily adapt to the role of newly weds ;)
Even though Avery warns all readers in the start of the book about how hot this series is, I feel that I should also add my warning. This book, like all Manhattanite books is extremely hot!!!! You will literally find yourselves blushing while reading it! Not that I mind that ;) so if this isn't your thing than stay clear of this series, but for those who like their romance hot and spicy, you won't regret reading it!
Thank you Netgalley and Avery Aster for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
